I am preety sure I already know the answer to this, but was wandering if anyone has had any experience with wingsuit base jumping in particular or just base jumping they can share? After watching this video i've got my mind set on it!

Not something to get into if you have kids, but man I'm sure it's a rush and if you're single and totally accepting of the possible consequences then best of luck to you.

There is a DVD called "Learning to Fly" by Chris McNamara that's supposed to be a really good video about how Chris got into it, but it may be hard to find. You could start looking at supertopo.com which is a climbing website owned by Chris.

Its a pretty small group of people that do it and they rarely teach new people but if you want to get into it go do about 150 skydives 50 wingsuit skydives and then 100 normal basejumps.

If you want to learn more go to basejumper.com
It has a ton of info on it and kind of interesting to read the threads if you are into it

My personal favorite, some of the flight paths they take are literally ****ing insane. Going thru trees, under power lines, dive-bombing, etc.

I think I am being leveled but are you for real. % wise basejumping is way way more dangerous. there are probably less than 3k basejumpers around the world, and I don't think they are even up to BASE number 2000 yet. I think there have been somewhere in the 170-200 death range. Now there are ways to make it safer, not jumping just to jump when something feels wrong. I think the more interesting stat is there is almost no person who has made it through their first 100 jumps without breaking a few bones.

Don't get me wrong though I think BASE jumping is ****ing awesome and would do it in a second, but it is dangerous.

I'm far more daredevil than most and will do things that seems crazy to some people, but are really not that dangerous like skydiving - and some that are somewhat dangerous, like motorcycling, but that base jumping and bat suit stuff is pretty much just suicidal. As a one time thing, maybe not, but as a hobby, it's probably about as dangerous as eating a bottle of sleeping pills or cutting your wrists.

with modern BASE only rigs it is a bit safer, I only know about 2 or 3 where the chute was a total mal. now having an off heading open straight into the side of the object you are jumping can still kill you
