Re: Why does the 1 Liter bottle of Coke cost more than the 2 liter bottle?

If I go to a drugstore to buy coke and the 2 liter bottle is 50 cents while the 1 liter bottle is 3 dollars, I'm still buying the 1 liter bottle. I can't think of any situation where I'd want a 2 liter bottle of coke. (1 liter bottle has to be cold ofc.)

The new plastic bottle is nearly four feet tall, and weighs 274 pounds when filled with Coke. In development tests, it took an average of three men to lift the new bottle. The product will fit in an average refrigerator, but only when all other products and shelving have been removed. Most inconvenient of all, the new Coke will go flat if not drunk within 17 minutes, even if it is promptly recapped. The Coca-Cola Corporation does not see these factors as drawbacks.
I always loved this onion article about the 30 liter Coke was gonna make:

I prefer the taste of ice-cold, flat coke when I am not too thirsty

Seriously, try it before you say it sucks! Room temperature flat coke is absolutely awful, but ice cold is great

Not sure of the prices in the states, but 1 breakfast burrito at McDonalds in lolCanada is $1.39 or you can get 2 for $2.99.. Sounds like a good deal to me!!

OP tried to prove how brilliant he was and how stupid his roommate was because he always put cans upside down in fridge (to prevent crap from getting on top of them) and roommate foolishly put them rightside up! Then OP was thawing some meat in the fridge without a plate on the bare fridge rack and the meat juice dripped all over the top of the cans and he was like "With my method the cans wouldn't have meat juice all over the top! You are so stupid!" and we were like "no u" /thread.

By the time you find a buyer the coke will be flat and thus undrinkable tho

I always laugh at stupid pricing
Burger King does this all the time
There can be 2 sanwhiches that cost 3.49 and one with the meal will be like 4.99 and one with the meal witll be 6.49

Ive also seen prices like this in donut shops:

# of donuts Price
1 .50
2 1.00
3 1.50
4 2.25
5 2.35
6 2.75
7 3.80
8 3.90
9 4.10
10 4.35
11 5.15
12 5.00

They have an even worse example at burger king. You could get a 4 piece of chicken tenders for 99. cents. An 8 piece was 3.99 though... LOL.

The 4 pieces did come in a bag and were on the kids menu whilst the 8 piece came in a box.

Still think its like that..

Re: Why does the 1 Liter bottle of Coke cost more than the 2 liter bottle?

TomCollins surprisingly nailed it.

Quote:
Simple explanation:

Someone buying a 1L coke is mostly buying it for immediate consumption. This means they are not going to shop around for the best price. They will pay a premium to drink it now.

Someone buying a 2L coke is not buying for immediate consumption. They have more time to compare prices (they can wait until they buy groceries, rather than buying at a 7-11 if the price is too high).

People will buy the 1L over the 2L because they don't need that much, and it's worth 40 cents to not carry around a huge jug of Coke.
Coke cost nothing to produce.

I'd also add that I'd bet the 1L price is much higher than a grocery store, and the 2L price is much closer.

I would be very surprised if 1L prices at a grocery store were higher than a 2L.
