Why does the 1 Liter bottle of Coke cost more than the 2 liter bottle? Why does the 1 Liter bottle of Coke cost more than the 2 liter bottle?

I will actually agree with this. I totally forgot McDonald's coke because I haven't eaten in there forever but their coke is AMAZING. Honestly one of the best drinks ever.

Only thing I disagree with is Diet coke... plastic bottle coke > diet. Diet is so atrociously awful.

I thought about this for a while because I was like, how could someone be so mind-blowingly stupid?

Then I realised, maybe you don't know that carbonation is where they put carbon dioxide into the water so it fizzes. That makes more sense to me now. Turns out it is just a case of a lack of general knowledge and critical thought instead of a mega-moron superattack!

its cheaper because usually you don't use 2L in one go, so it goes flat. most people will use a 1L without it going flat so they are in more demand so priced at a different price point.

At first I thought how could someone be such a monstrous douche bag...

Then I REALIZED because hes a lonely hateful loser.

I don't care that you think everyone should know frivolous information like carbonation is putting carbon dioxide into water so it fizzes. It was never important in my life and will continue not to be. Like I said, get off my nuts.

It's only a matter of time until they realize their mistake.

If you really want to save money take a 5 gallon jug into a convenience store and pay for a refill.

This is so stupid on so many levels. You do realize American coke, was originally made with sugar and the switch was made due to cost not quality right?

Same reason that veal costs more than beef.

Simple explanation:

Someone buying a 1L coke is mostly buying it for immediate consumption. This means they are not going to shop around for the best price. They will pay a premium to drink it now.

Someone buying a 2L coke is not buying for immediate consumption. They have more time to compare prices (they can wait until they buy groceries, rather than buying at a 7-11 if the price is too high).

People will buy the 1L over the 2L because they don't need that much, and it's worth 40 cents to not carry around a huge jug of Coke.

I'm with OP, that pricing is completely ******ed. lol @ everyone saying 'supply and demand' like it's the most natural thing in the world that 2L costs less than 1L.

Really? It's pretty clear that many people (myself included) would prefer to buy the 1L bottle instead of the 2L bottle since its overall much more useful in any situation where I was buying a bottle of coke from a store like that.

So I'd suggest you not go into business.

You'd prefer purchasing a 1L bottle of cola rather than a 2L bottle in ANY situation where you're buying from a drug store?

LOL @ this vitriol

1L doesn't always cost less than 2L. This whole discussion seems built around what some rando store does.

I can't remember the last time I saw a 1L cost less than a 2L. Seems like 2L is always on sale for like $0.99.

right, i'd be surprised if it didn't have to do with some sort of lol canada thing. but i can see a situation where, at a drug store/convenience store, it would be possible. iirc 3 liter bottles are typically less expensive than 2 liter bottles at grocery stores, or at least i recall reading this somewhere.

i mean really what i take away from it is that 2 liter bottles are awful. unless you drink the whole thing in a day or squeeze the air out of them like a poor person, they go flat. me, i just buy six packs, making sure to turn them upside-down when i put them in the fridge.

If by any we mean 99% of the time - yes. I'm sure there's an exception.

If I'm buying coke for a large group of people - I'm not buying bottles. I'm buying a case since its overall much cheaper (and still convenient). I'm also probably not buying it from a drug store.

If I'm buying a coke in a drug store it's because I want a convenient drink at that point in time. That's not having a 2L bottle around.

Do you think this is really that rare?

So just drink 1L from a 2L bottle and put it in the fridge in case you want more later?

Also not buying this idea that the cola is ruined after 24 hours of being opened. It's not as good but it's not ruined.

For people that aren't poor* - it's hardly worth drinking the last 1/4 of the bottle after 24 hours (depends on how it was used - but assuming standard usage).

More importantly - when I say "convenient drink" it means I'm not at home or going to be home anytime soon. Which means I don't really want to carry around a giant bottle until I get back to my fridge.

* No, I'm not Henry. But coke isn't really a ballin' thing.

I'm in the "it's ruined" group. I know people that will pull a one week old 2 liter out of the fridge with like 10 ounces left and pour themselves a glass and drink it. Disgusting. I wouldn't do this 24 hours after opening, let alone 7 days.

close the cap of a 2l as hard as you can. i'm talking hard enough that most women couldn't open it. it makes a pretty big difference.
