It's not the prices, it's the pathetic lack of choices that's irks me. Their produce section, if you want to call it that, is comical. It sounds like people like their beef, but I recall their meats being pretty ordinary. Could be wrong on that though.

The only time I ever go in is when I happen to be with someone else. Only a handful of times in my whole life.

variety is a worthless criteria. all a store needs is the stuff i like the most. if they have ten different brands then by definition nine of them arent the best so why should i care about them anyway.

The smart people don't buy the stuff that is more expensive at Costco and just buy the cheaper stuff.

But I guess if you're completely brain washed that doesn't really work.

I suggest OP stand outside his nearest Costco and do a survey on what percentage of people are completely brain washed and get back to us.

Totally agree, the business model is genius. But the model is insidious in many ways, not to mention deceptive. Sorry, I don't need a bag of thirty, tiny, rock-hard limes. I just need two nice ones. And I want five different pears to choose from. Does Costco even sell pears? I guess they prolly do, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. Lol @ Costco.

Have never been in a Costco as it is not an option for us. Which kinda sux imo. Had a friend stay over for a night passing through town hitchhiking, and he had a giant pack of beef jerky in his packsack for road food. Not one of those small mostly air and over priced beef jerky packs I am used to. Thing was huge. And apparently cheap too and from Costco. Ever since have felt am missing out on something special.

Well I generally hate Wal-Mart because there is so much crap in there. Crap as in stuff that breaks, doesn't work, terrible quality,etc. You have to be really selective at Wal-Mart to dodge stuff that just sucks. Sure, you can buy 5 bath towels for $5, but don't forget that towels are actually supposed to be able to absorb water. Meanwhile, you have to fade the life degens that roam the place. I'm lucky in that I probably live near the nicest Wal-Mart in North America, ha. Generally speaking though, Wal-Mart blows.

Albertson's near me is awesome. Great prices, awesome selection. The produce section is sick, love their meats (Choice and sometimes Prime, decent prices) and good selection of fish. And live lobster! And their bread is often still warm when you buy it. But that's only the high volume breads like French and Sourdough.
