Saw this discussion on another forum and thought i would ask the 2+2 crowd. If I had a pet I loved i think it will be a pretty close decision, but I would chose the stranger.

I obviously don't wish this kind of situation to befall on any of you but if you were put in this situation then who would you save?

We did this once with pet/stranger/100k and you could pick two. I think pet/100k won but I'm too lazy to look it up.

Is this like a "The Good Son" scenario where we have both hanging from our arms off a cliff or something? Pretty sure my cat could manage on its own in that scenario, so probably the stranger.

The pet of course, the last thing the world needs is more people.

There's way too many domesticated animals on earth, getting rid of one would be good for society. It's a moot point for me anyway because I'm too smart and evolved to ever fall in love with some furry rat that poops on the sidewalk.

The stranger is a more complex decision. Most humans are assbags so I doubt it would make much difference if it died, and I certainly wouldn't feel bad about it. I'm leaning towards "neither" but that's not an option in the poll. I'll play along and pick one, so I guess I'd save the human.

Saving the human could have some benefits. I could guilt trip them into giving me money or favors since I saved their life. You couldn't do that with a dog or whatever. The dog would just stare at you and poop and expect you to pick it up, not caring one iota that you just saved its life.

I might save Iggy Pop, because he wants to be my dog.

I would use the stranger to help me save my pet, then kill the stranger.

Isn't this murder if there is proof that you had a choice between the pet and the stranger and you picked the pet?

I would pick the pet if no legal consequences followed.

If there was time I'd give the stranger 10 words to convince me to pick him.

What if the stranger is Hispanic and doesn't speak English?

if the pet is a dog, pet ainec. if the pet is a cat, i'd probably go stranger.
