The GaryVee Audio Experience: Mostly about social advertising/communication, but the guy is a pretty intense personality (very love/hate), and if you like him, pretty entertaining.

Tim Ferriss: Mostly listen to the business and entertainment-related episodes.

Will check out masters of scale - sounds good.

Only discovered GaryVee recently on YouTube but am obsessed with him atm. Definitely a polarising guy. First time I came across him was as a guest on Joe Rogan's pod and I found him hard to take and gave up after 20mins. Randomly caught him on YT doing a keynote at a marketing conference and he blew me away. Realised I had to get over my distaste for his brash Jersey personality bc he spouts gold when it comes to social marketing knowledge.

Norm MacDonald's video podcast is coming back July 25th with a new episode. Mike Tyson is the guest.

Ah I guess he's abandoning the "one podcast per calendar year" formula, it's about time.

Mike Tyson makes sense as a guest since they're doing that awesome show together now.

I was an avid listener of Jay Mohr's podcast but I just unsubbed in a fury. I don't know if it's i-Tunes or him, I suspect it's him because it's never happened with any other podcast I'm subbed to, but I would start listening to a cast that I downloaded a few months ago, pause it because I'm getting out of the car or whatever, and then poof! it's gone. I can't re-download, I can't pick up where I left off, it's simply nowhere to be found. It happened like three times, all with his podcasts.

Check and see if he has a paywall, some casts do,so they take episodes out of the free area and make them available for paying suscribers.

I keep hearing about Patreon being part of this as well.

I feel like he always rehashes the same stuff. It's just that sometimes the quality of his guests make up for it. I've come to a he conclusion that he just isn't that smart or interesting. I can't imagine that his stand up is that funny....? Regardless, he gets my vote any day for the fact that he TRIES to get out there and learn about whatever he can, all the time. The guy does have a pretty crazy depth of knowledge when it comes to the stuff he's interested in. He's also one of the hardest working people in any business - it's almost hard to believe everything he fits into his life. He's probably a little full of himself as well but hey I can't blame him too much for that. He's definitely doing his best.

I like Cousin Sal's gambling podcast but only because of him. I've gotten to the point where I can't stand Joe House and Sal's trifecta doesn't add that much comedic value imo.

I find Dana Gould ****ing hilarious...but he does the same thing.

I finished his 'cast from June 29th and one of his guests was April Richardson. Among the topics discussed was the behind-the-scenes grossness at the Playboy Mansion. (Spoiler: Apparently the girls ALL sleep with The Hef, that's part of the deal of living in the Mansion; The Hef watches gay p0rn in order to get aroused; the women all pass the same yeast infection around the Mansion as no protection is ever used.) Then I decided to skip back in time to listen to an old 'cast that I had missed, one from February of 2016. Twenty minutes into it and there's April Richardson and there they are talking about the same Playboy Mansion shenanigans they discussed in June of this year. It's like neither of them even remembered that they had just talked about all this stuff a year ago.

Also his 'casts are insanely long, like 3 hours. They're basically two casts in one each time, he will have two guests or two sets of guests and he jumps back and forth between the two parallel interviews, plus he does a bit of a "set" in the middle. It makes them looooong (still funny though).

I really don't find Rogan all that funny, but he's not the worst interviewer I've ever heard (he interrupts his guests from time to time but not nearly as often as Maron or Joy Mohr do, and Mohr does it CONSTANTLY, his interview with Leigh Steinberg went a good half hour longer than it should have because Mohr asks him a question and before Steinberg can even respond Mohr starts doing comedy instead of letting the guy answer his ****ing question). Rogan also has some amazing guests. The Neil deGrasse Tyson interview was very good.

Rogan is really hit-or-miss. I don't find him funny but he does get some really good guests on from time to time.

I just get sick of him shilling for bull**** supplements that don't do a goddamn thing on his show.

I've been listening to Pod Save America and Waking Up With Sam Harris as of late. Though with the latter, I tend to skip episodes that I know will suck such as his last one with Scott Adams.

I listen to this entire episode (two hours?) and found it monumentally exasperating. Scott Adams is like a very smart version of Sean Hannity. By that, I mean that he will defend or explain every single thing Trump does, and essentially puts forth the thesis that Trump is a genius, but he does so in a measured, seemingly intelligent way (whereas Hannity just denies reality).

I've always been a Dilbert fan, but this podcast make me actually dislike Scott Adams. He would never actually agree that Trump has done anything wrong in any way. He even excuses/justifies the blatant lies.

So Trump supporters: you might like it.

Time spent reading Adams' twitter feed should cure this malady.

Norm MacDonald is back with a powerhouse lineup of new guests: David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, and now "Iron Mike" Tyson the retired prizefighter.

Norm is of course GOAT or right behind Bob Newhart and Letterman anyway.

edit: aah, I see Woxof beat me to it.

The Moth has been mentioned a few times, and now would be a good time to check it out. They recently posted their 500th episode, which is a collection of some of their best stories.

Definitely worth listening to if you never have before.

Many podcasts I listen to are just regular people talking about subjects they enjoy talking about. So I tend to think of all podcasts that way . . . until something breaks the fourth wall.

I listen to a couple of podcasts from the Parcast network: https://www.parcast.com/ These are true crime podcasts, Serial Killers and Unsolved Murders. They aren't always great, but they are usually interesting. They feature some bad re-enactments of the killer's sometimes. And the banter between the hosts seems forced. But I deal with it because they are good besides that.

But then the last episode of Unsolved Murders did what they usually do, feature voice actors doing the voices of the killers and/or victims. Except this time, the voice actor portraying the victim was Greg Polcyn--the host of the Serial Killers podcast.

So I listened to the end of the podcast (I usually stop when they start doing the credits), and realized that the "hosts" are also just voice actors, with no particular knowledge or interest in the subject at hand. The odd thing is that they list one of the hosts of Serial Killers as appearing on the Unsolved Murders episode, but not the other one whom I recognized.

I've just discovered The Naked Scientists podcast and am completely hooked. They cover really interesting topics in a decent amount of depth without going overboard, and have great guests.

They also have a bunch of spin off ones covering more specialised topics.

One trend that I'm not enjoying is the true crime podcasts that are many episodes. They try to make it seem like it's "in-depth" but in reality, it's just a ton of filler.

I recently finished Accused. This second season was an 8 part investigation into a 30 year murder. It easily could have been 2 episodes. Maybe even 1. The last episode was supposed to be the "aftermath" of the crime. But all it was was an interview with the accused murderer about things completely unrelated to the case. Then an interview with another person who's 100% unrelated to the case. Then a brief discussion of how the victim's family hates the podcast. The host seems surprised, yet the host has spent several episodes talking about how promiscuous the victim was--of course they are angry.

Another one popped into my feed--Someone Knows Something. Got 14 minutes into the first episode and I've already stopped. It's a 6 part series and they still haven't talked about the reason for the series. They spent 5 minutes talking about how the host is walking down the Mississippi River with his son! So I know they are going to be taking their time setting things up, when they really don't need to.

That's actually why I really like the Casefile podcast. It's a no nonsense 1 episode recap of a crime. Yeah, the episodes are still longer than they need to be. But not atrociously long like the 6+ episode podcasts.

I gave Someone Knows Something another chance. At about the 15 minute mark, they finally reveal what they'll be talking about for the season. Then they meandered more and more. Footage of Robert Kennedy. Talking about something the host did in 2004. Talking to the brother of the victim. When he was born, what he did growing up. I finally just unsubscribed. I'm not going through 6 episodes of this stuff. Get to the point!

I've been hooked on Mysterious Universe recently. Lots of wacky UFO/paranormal/ancient civilisations/government programs/etc. stuff.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist person at all, and the guys that do it take the majority of stuff with a giant pinch of salt. It's well researched and good fun though, with lots of great (and usually completely mad) stories, and interesting guests.
