Seems like a really odd hustle to pull, I would imagine she would tell someone and if you seem like a nice guy you'll eventually find out.

Pay for the glasses and then get revenge by giving her a Dirty Sanchez next cottage weekend.

So your alternate theory is someone else got in the car and sat down on and broke her glasses, then moved the broken glasses (except for one lense) to the cupholder, then buried the remaining lense with a tablet, glove and bottle of water, then fled the scene?

It seems more likely you are a schizophrenic or having some other memory loss issue.

BTW, whenever *I* ask a passenger to lift their rear end up so I can have a good look, they get suspicious, but I guess I could try to keep a broken pair of glasses around.

So far, so good. OP, your best play is to lie in wait until the next Halloween cottage weekend and carve a pumpkin in the shape of broken glasses. Your revenge will be sweet!

two things could happen :

1 - she likes you, enjoyed your shopping time and your charms and pictures herself hooking up with you next year if the opportunity presents itself

2 - she isnt really interested but will happily give you good references to the other girls on the next trip since you were such a great guy non date/date
Lol. You just can't imagine not trying to pick up someone that you had a (negative) interaction with that happens to be a woman?

In the winter exchange the boating for ski doos, swimming with hot tubbing, and the drinking and bad decisions are the same.
it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.....glass lense.

this seems like a pretty good play except for the fact this chick seems like a crazy bitch.

a normal person would pay for their own ****ing glasses since it was clearly an accident n no way to know who did it.

if u say u don't think u sat on them (u would most likely feel it if u did) and she doesn't believe you and still wants you to pay for a new pair she's a ****ing sociopath and if ur not gonna get invited back cuz the rest of the group takes her side ur better off finding a new group of friends who aren't ****ing insane.

also you should really try not to admit to things you didn't do in order to ease social tension or whatever, it's a really bad idea n if you continue to do it you'll find yourself in way worse spots.

I know language changes as time goes and I'm an lolold, but "cottage weekend"? What ever happened to just going to the lake? This right up there with "session beer" for sounding dumb.

lolpoors.

In northern Ontario, they call cottages, "camps," which never made any sense to me.

Don't you have a group chat? Just mention the story and say that you are pretty sure you didn't sit on them and see if anyone else owns up.

There is a chance somebody else did it, put them in the holder not out of spite but out of convenience/distraction, and then forgot about it.

If nobody does own up, you have two choices:
1. Pay for them
2. Move on from the group

are you going to find something broken in the cottage next time and admit to breaking that too so you can keep going back?

We did a yearly cottage weekend trip when I was an undergrad, although we would never have called it that. Rather fun, actually. Much drinking and random stuff going on, and definitely worth keeping in the social circle's good graces.

We call it a bach here. Except that's it's more popular in the summer, unless you are skiing or something.

buy her new glasses, then wait patiently, maybe years, until you have the opportunity to slip them under her as she is sitting down
