Try way too hard to do what? Show a woman a good time and make sure its something they actually want to do? Try too hard to not plan a generic date? How old are you?

if it had said 5 in 5 adults find coupons acceptable, then what percentage of women would?

It is impossible to answer this because we don't know anything either about the membership of CouponCabin nor do we know anything about the subset of that membership that participated in the study.
More importantly talking about what people on coupon sites think of coupons is retarded if the goal is to make statements about the general public. Even if 100% of women on CouponCabin felt it was ok to use a coupon on a date it is meaningless because the site's membership is not reflective of the rest of society.

Also, in the situations where it would be appropriate not only would wearing a suit make you look bad in most spots, people would probably think youre a clown who cant follow directions as they almost always state not to wear a suit.

There are virtually no situations where wearing a suit for an interview would hurt you. Maybe for fast food restaurants or something, but it's still unlikely.
This even comes from places where even after the interview you will be wearing shorts and flip flops. In my job, it's super casual, but there are certain situations where we need to dress up. Not being able to determine proper interview attire is basically a way of saying "I'm a retard". Nice shirt and tie is acceptable, but suit is better in this case. Wanting to work in a laid back place is a lot different than showing up to an interview in jeans. That kind of ass-hattery will get you dismissed even at the most casual places.

meh. I have friends who work on the business side of companies like Abercrombie, Gap, etc. and they were supposably instructed to wear "trendy casual" to the interview and were told that their choice of dress would help determine whether or not they get the job. This is for a completely corporate position where you will be wearing more formal stuff than that AFTER becoming an employee. I interviewed at a hedge fund in college and they told us explicitly not to wear a suit or tie. I was interviewed by a guy in flip flops and cargo shorts. I am sure tons of tech firms and startups would also look favorably upon you for more casual attire than a suit also.

Showing up to an interview in jeans is generally a bad idea. In both of the cases you mentioned they specifically said not to wear a suit so obviously short of being a retard you wouldn't wear one. And I'm sure that some tech companies are the same way. In fact, both places instructing the interviewee not to wear a suit is just proof that that kind of attire is standard for an interview.
That doesn't mean anything. By the way if you're going in a date with a broke 19 year old or someone who works for Groupon then yes using a coupon is fine. Same as wearing jeans to an interview where you're instructed to not wear a suit. That doesn't change the fact that in a vacuum and in 95%+ of situations you shouldn't use a coupon on a first date or wear jeans to an interview.
Using weird outlier scenarios as the norm to prove a point is just retarded.

Not when the guy said he wouldnt do it under any circumstances and the whole point was that circumstances can dictate that it is preferable.
Also, every single person itt that I recall (with the possible exception of leoslayer) saying coupons were ok has said that it is situation dependent. I havent seen anyone advocating the unequivocal use of a coupon on every first date. Its the other side that is, in some cases, taking an unwavering stance against them no matter what the circumstances are.

I'd have to look back but many of the anti-coupon users have stated that some girls would find it acceptable. Good examples would be Groupon employee or possibly broke 19 year old. The reason they state to never use one (assuming no information like Groupon employee) is because the vast majority of girls would find it strange or cheap and it would hurt you. While it would be fine some small % of the time that doesn't mean you should just randomly be doing things with a very low chance of success.

Grunch.
If you're still in the "getting to know her" phase then absolutely no coupons. If you are firmly in a relationship with her then I think it's fine. The word "dating" tends to imply the former, so I guess that's my answer, but I felt like explaining anyway.

Were there any ladies opinions on the subject itt?
Asking this I realized just how pathetic this discussion must look to somebody who stumbles upon it.

no i didnt advocate using them on a first date. all i said was the existing view women have of using a coupon on a first date should change. it shouldnt matter.
i do advocate using them down the road tho. if youve had sex then coupon is coming (if you have one to a place you like)
