Tips for drinking a lot without getting drunk? Tips for drinking a lot without getting drunk?

Another lightweight and I are participating in a beer pong tournament this weekend. From what I understand of the format it's going to involve about 7-10 games over the course of maybe 5 hours (so, on average 10-15 beers).

All I really know is eat beforehand and drink a lot of water. Is there anything that can counteract the alcohol or prevent the body from absorbing it? I mean I think we'll be fine but if we can make 10-15 beers feel like 5-7 we'd be much better off and less likely to puke.

There's an episode of Happy Days where Richie and Potsy drink castor oil before a bachelor party, but they ended up drunk anyway. But the girl that jumped out of the cake drove Richie home and talked to his dad a little. Turns out she was a nice girl.

I used to drink a coke first. Somehow that worked pretty well for me. Probably drinking water first is just as good.

Nothing you want to put in your stomach.

I've been told that drinking milk lines the inside of your stomach which makes getting drunk more difficult. Not sure if this is true though. Basically eat alot.

If you don't suck at beer pong you don't have to drink that much.

Also, Milk and soda will not help. AFAIK soda will get you drunk quicker (carbonation leads to gastric emptying = alcohol gets absorbed sooner)

Edit: Lots of studies on carbonation and gastric emptying showing it doesn't really have any effect. When used in alcohol studies however, it seems to have some effect of emptying the stomach quicker. Not really a big deal though. Also apparently milk does help according to some random internet website -- so it must be true.

I say half way through go boot and rally.

Eat lots of these.

In all seriousness, the potato is a massive weapon in a heavy drinker's arsenal. It will fortify your stomach and allow you to take your drinking to the next level. Drink a decent amount of water and have at least one large baked potato a couple hours before you start drinking and your preparedness level will be excellent. If you can't do potatos, a big bowl of pasta will give you the carb goodness you need. The best drinking sessions of my life have been based on potatos.

Pretty much anything that will stimulate your brain should help. As mentioned previously, blow, adderal, will double your tolerance or there abouts. I'd imagine you wont be going to that extent just to win so i'd just pick up some red bulls or something which will help a bit but not a whole lot. Drink lots of water leading up to it.
