Growing up, one of our neighbors was a white couple who adopted a black baby. I didn't really know what adoption was so I assumed that white people could have black babies. When my cousin was born I asked my aunt and uncle (who were a little racist to be honest) if their baby was black or white and got quite the horrified reaction.

I also had never heard the term ****** until i was like 13, and one day while w/ some new friends we ring and ran a bunch of houses, except they called it ****** knocking, so like 3 days later im watching the burbs with my mom and dad, and Tom Hanks ring and runs the Kloppets, and I go..hahah they are ****** knocking...in front of my parents, which got me a swift smack and subsequent yelling at by my mom.

(derogatory term for black ppl)

I thought the phrase was "all of the sudden" instead of "all of a sudden" until like two years ago when I was at work and said it in a room full of people and about ten minutes of laughter and mocking of me ensued.

In elementary school we always had Hot Dog Day, KFC Day, pizza day, etc. People thought it was really weird that I eat KFC chicken with Ketchup. I still think its normal and my friends at the time were just playing a joke on me. Still not sure actually....Everyone in my family eats fried chicken with ketchup.

Cream corn on top of vanilla ice cream. Thought this was completely standard (as it is for my family, and many from Malaysia) until I was about 20 and whipped it out during a poker game.

Haha wtf both of those are weird. Although chicken slightly less so. I once worked with Norm Macdonald, who is crazy, and for two weeks out of the blue he starts ordering a whole, rotisserie chicken for lunch everyday which he would garnish with ketchup packets. Then suddenly stopped.

Yeah even those whole rotisserie chickens I buy from the supermarket (Costco chicken!) I still eat with ketchup, with rice of course.

TBH it is f*ing delicious! Actually I don't know if its common in Malaysia or not. My family in malaysia at it as well, but maybe thats just where my mom got it from. Perhaps my grandparents were ostracized for the same thing.

Try it someone, please!

2) This is more of a misconception than something I thought was normal. My parents' first house was on a street called Coleman. They used to refer to it in sentences like "remember when we lived on Coleman?" Well, at a young age I internalized "on coleman" as some sort of stage of marriage involving saving up money for a real house and eating a bunch of hot dogs and pork and beans. "Where did your parents live 'on coleman?'" is a question that can confuse the hell out of people.
This is the funniest **** ive ever read in my whole life

I am guessing you are American, and I know America has tons of great food not interested in America bashing at all, but having what is 'junk food' days at school is a bit weird.

Oddjob,

Have you ever had the good stuff? 'Cause that's one of those things that has so much variance that it's easy to hate the cheap stuff, but the stuff that's good enough to put on ice cream is amazing.

Until I was about 18, I always thought it was 'acoma' instead of 'a coma'.

Only a few months ago I was caught saying fustrating. It took some convincing for me to believe that frustrating was the correct term. I still make the mistake nearly every time.

fwiw: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fustrate ("Having such a high level of fustration that you completely forget to pronounce the first 'R' in the word "frustration" when you try to describe your feelings to your peers.")

every day at american schools is junk food day. that's why 90% of the little ****ers are fat.

that's not even counting the candy and soda machines in the hallways.

pretty sad, really.

There is a dish in Malaysia that is made up of shaved ice, different types of beans and corn, caramel, condensed milk and hard gelatin type fruity things. I imagine this is where the cream corned thing comes from.

Fwiw that dessert I described is absolutely delicious and you can get it in america, its called either CBA or ABC. Can't remember which, but both are good desserts.
