Robinson started his managerial career as a player/manager with the Indians. He was the first African-American manager in MLB. Seems worth a statue.

I considered this but didn't want to fact check before posting.

Other than being first African American manager, was the managerial career (just the Cleveland portion) noteworthy?

Watching the British Open coverage on Friday and the announcers were heavily invested in making the weather a huge story. Was bad at times but overall pretty historically good tbh.

So they are showing a shot and they have the wind speed and direction read-out and it's like 12 mph. Then the one guy says, "oh, it's blowing way harder than that", and the other guy agrees.

I'm pretty sure that it's blowing exactly 12 mph and the anemometer they have hooked up is more accurate than how it "feels" to a guy sitting inside an announcer's booth.

I think it only bugs me this much at Costco. And that's kinda why it shouldn't piss me off. At a regular grocer there's some teenager making minimum wage to hump carts, but at Costco someone makes, like, $15 an hour + great benefits to do it, and I figure I should be happy for the cart dude's job security.

Also, I probably have an unreasonably higher expectation of the level of decency of the average Costco shopper than I do of a regular grocery store patron. Pretty sure that's a leak.

The whole vibe at Costco is aggro. Like all the customers are in competition with each other - to get the good samples, to get the best checkout line spot. It's just weird. I don't enjoy shopping there.

Modern CGI has this weird thing lately, it all comes off as a bit "blah." I was thinking this watching the Justice League trailer today, also noticed it during GoT (dragons). It's hard to put my finger on it, but it's almost like the more "realistic" they push it, the more out of place it becomes. Feels like this started with Transformers and has quickly become the norm for all CGI.

The fact that a Royal Flush is considered a distinct thing above a straight flush. A royal flush is just the highest straight flush, there's no difference at all. Royal flush should be a nickname like "broadway" not a separate category.
