He's talking about roads that have a joint left hand turn lane for traffic in both directions. She's turning left onto said road when the traffic coming from the left clears and then waits in that middle lane until the traffic moving the other direction clears and then basically merges onto the road. It's definitely possible to do this without getting in anyone's way by just making sure you're stopped in an area that isn't across from any driveway or street. In fact on some really busy roads it's borderline necessary if you want to make a left turn.

She then waits for the traffic moving the other direction to clear at which point you pulls out of the turn lane.

It's also possible he's talking about a boulevard situation with separate turn lanes. Same type of idea except in this case there is basically no way she can guarantee she won't get in the way.

2 things that have really been pissing me off lately that shouldn't....

When I'm watching ESPN and getting score updates from the crawler(ex: NCAA scores) and it's 4-5 updates away from coming up. I sit there reading all the other updates waiting 2-3 mins for the 1 I want and they cut to a local commercial right as the update I want comes up. The local commercials take up the whole screen so I end up missing the update I wanted. I know it's only 3-5 mins away from coming up again but I get PO'd b/c I just wasted a couple mins for nothing.

When I'm watching a movie/TV show late at night and the emergency weather test comes up right in the middle of a pivotal plot scene. Almost ruins the show some times.
