This is incredible.

once upon a time the price of gasoline was in $0.10 increments. regular was x, plus was x+$0.10, and premium was x+$0.20. at some time during the price escalation of a few years ago the prices moved away from the $0.10 increment and became something random like $0.14 or $0.17 increments. it's stuck ever since.

i only buy regular so the price difference shouldn't matter to me, but i see gas station signs all the time and it pisses me off every time i do.

That gets me too. I have seen some ridiculous escalations. Like 24 cents for mid than an extra 13 for premium.

I don't remember this ever being standard.

Speaking of gas, I was driving through the Reno area last week and stopped at a gas station that offered 87, 89, 90, and 91. Wtf?
I was pretty pissed.
Mostly because I naturally went for the 3rd handle from the right and it turned our to be 89 rather than the standard 87.

But then I thought about it some more and decided that the mere fact that they offered 4 grades of gasoline in such close proximity made me angry.

This pisses me off since I take 89 octane.

Also, people that pump gas holding down the lever manually gfto with that. Lock it in, step away from the fumes, step back in when you're ready to click off.

I worked in a bldg where multiple small businesses had offices. Management thought it was important enough to send out an email that basically admonished people for using cell phones in the restrooms.

Are you kidding me, someone was so upset with people talking on a phone in the toilets that they made a stink big enough to get management to send out an email.

I put signs in the 4 bathrooms the next day that had a big picture of a cell phone crossed out in red , it read
"NO CELLPHONES ALLOWED"
"PLEASE LET US POOP IN PEACE"


I cracked up when I heard people make comments to others about the signs.
They were up for a whole week before being taken down, guess someone figured it wasnt management who did it

The $0.10 increments on gas used to be standard around my parts too. Then it started going in $0.20 increments. Now it's just willy nilly. I've seen 89 octane priced higher than 92, I've seen them priced the same. Often now I'll see the 87 priced almost a full dollar below the premium, then the mid-grade the same as or maybe ten cents lower than the premium. Definitely pisses me off all the way around.

My reaction to middle aged woman that dropped heavy bag on my head while trying to stuff it in the luggage compartment. I let it go. My mind is divided between : I should have let all the hell break loose and it was ok not to tell her everything I think about her.

I grow with oot. Now we exchanged addresses initiated by me so that I can get grip on her if that is gonna have any health consequences for me. Immediately stopped being pissed and think that I handled it well.

At this point, I really thought you were going to invite her to tea or something. Now THAT would be growth.

Depended on part of country I guess...although I am old enough to remember when it was even less than that. Gas wars had regular leaded under 42 cents per gallon in Texas even in the early 80's...and eight gallons at Shell would get you a glass even some years beyond that point.

Not uncommon now to see spreads of 18-20 cents per grade, although some that don't sell a lot of premium may be as much as a dollar or more between 87 and 93.

Sucks seeing a sign with regular at $1.979 and then pull in to find premium at $2.859. Those places don't get my business...

I used to play poker in this bar that was heavy on masculine females,
now I aint gonna call it a dyke bar but when the ladies go by Bubba,Skeeter and Earl Ray(not making this up) you get the picture.

One day im sitting at the bar with the owner after poker and some new customers come in(very local heavy all around, lots of one timers come through and very small portion would keep coming back if it werent for the poker)
and the owner is trying to convince these newbies that despite what other people around town say this is not a lesbian bar.

- DEFCON 5 is least severe, DEFCON 1 is most severe
