Just finished this today. Overwrought, melodramatic and a little too pop-science for my taste, especially in the beginning. Here and there it has some interesting insights.
The author specializes in trauma recovery and seems to get most of her sociopath knowledge from basically traumatized victims of them. As such, it seems to me she's got a bit of a 'paranoia' and a weird view of them as somehow popping out of the womb fully formed and having no real internal uncertainty ever. She focuses on three of the most bothersome types of sociopaths, none of which would be my own profile.
Yeah, sure, I fit the vague dsm-iv 'definition' but I continue to believe practically everyone in this forum could be considered a sociopath according to the official criteria. Admittedly some of the descriptions of mimicry, shallow emotions, and poor behavioral controls yet tremendous superficial charm felt a bit on the nose.
