All I know is that I had a '93 Accord, and in 2008 (after this thread, completely unbeknownst to me at the time, had already lived and died) at 150K+ I started using "high mileage" oil. The car used to leak all over the place - I ruined at least 3 street-fronts in front of various houses I lived at and you can probably still see the results on the Google Map pictures thing. No more leaking after I switched to high mileage.

Now, that might not necessarily have been the best thing for the car, but it definitely solved the annoying leakage without the hassle of actually doing things right and seeing a mechanic.

Hmmmmmmm in the past 4.5 years -

I put another 27k miles on it (mostly interstate miles commuting to school, delivered pizzas for 8 months in it too)

had to do zero major repairs (did some minor work on it myself, never took it to the shop once, 4 new tires was probably my biggest expenditure since I last posted itt)

drove it from Michigan to Rhode Island

Had it start up on the first crank after sitting in a lot for a month+ the 3 times I had a chance to start it while at navy OCS

drove it for another 5 months without a single issue before I got orders to Mississippi and sold it to a junkyard for $100

I still enjoyed driving/owning it till the day I sold it and only replaced it (with a 2011 Taurus) because I was going to be in a living/work situation where I just couldn't afford to possibly be without a car at the drop of a hat for the first time in my life.

I would have loved to sell it to somebody who would have actually driven it, but I had 4 days to do something with it and I didnt know if it would have passed an emissions inspection anyway :-/
