I've read many articles/posts about facebook being an assault on the internet, but I got a good laugh out of "what in the damn hell is this".

To give you a serious reply, the answer is in your screenshot. EDGE by UDM is these guys:

https://www.underdogmedia.com/

click around there, watch a video or two and you should see whats happening.

I saw an article recently saying Google knows about some of your offline purchases; didn't read the details of how.

There are middlemen, but that's exactly right. Whoever pays an entity to place/publish their ads and gives them the parameters of the profile type they're targeting. photo bucket scans your photos and that AI makes its way to the data aggregators whose profiles are used by the entity (there are more middlemen but you get the idea) to place their customers ads.

Do you have a shopper discount card at the store or have you used that payment card with the discount card in the past?

Made the purchase at a gas station that I use frequently but have never used a shopping card there

if you're sure you didn't look it up online and you don't have a branded card, that's interesting... I'm not sure if it's better or worse if you paid cash.

Does the card issuing entity have access to the same email address that instagram does?

So I have a few pics like this on Photobucket

and they figure that I'm a sick gambler - which I kind of am - and the Arizona Dept of Sick Gambling buys an add? What for? Does this help them w/ their mandate or w/e to reach out to sick gamblers? On PHOTOBUCKET of all things?

They also record everything that plays on the speakers and that the microphone picks up, whether you were speaking into it or not, and transcribes the words using words to text technology and uses those keywords to advertise to you.

No, I created an email specifically for IG so that my FB or other contacts wouldn't be imported into IG

These cant be targeted right?

I only browse porn on private mode
My dad basicly asked me the same question. I told him then what I'm telling you now, basicly everyone likes hot Asian ladies. It's not really a targeted add.

Note: my dad has remarked on several occasions how much he does in fact like hot Asian ladies.

You have to balance your Internet use. You're an old man right? Well, search for some young girl stuff. You know what they're doing these days, where they're hanging out locally, and what time.

Take it easy w/ that 'old man' stuff, sonny! Plus, I know you're trying to get the FBI to visit me, thanks a lot.

You'll save yourself some money regardless of which kind of BJ you're referring to.

I’m no longer surprised by the targeted ads. Now I’m surprised when they get it wrong.

Sometimes I see ads that are in Spanish. I have never ever indicated to anyone anywhere in any way that I speak Spanish. Because I don’t.

Maybe it's due to where you live? I'm Aussie so they assume I'm ignorant and only speak English and they're right. I don't believe high school French makes me bilingual unfortunately.

I like the new buttons on some ads that allow you to tell them you've already bought the item.

you could be identified as a gambler from your activity on other sites - it's not necessarily the photos you uploaded to pb (but it could be). really the only thing you can do is install ublock origin for your browser.

Thanks, I'll look into that. Got the add again today, fwiw. At least it appears that 2p2 isn't selling my w/e it is they sell bec it'd make a lot more sense to get the adds on here.
