A buddy of mine just got that phone and it is sick. The S4 processor is just crushing the charts and the Sense 4.0 is awesome. It (along with the One X) is pretty much the phone to get right now in the world of Android.

Anyone having issues with the 2p2 app? It used to be that when I hit the back button after reading a thread the app would take me back to the "home screen" with all/unread/subscribed etc tabs.

Now when I hit back it closes the app. Is that due to a crappy update or what? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't work

I just picked it up yesterday (HTC EVO 4G LTE). my old EVO was having issues and it was time for a new phone. haven't played around with it much yet (just getting all my apps back on it and getting familiar with ICS) but it seems pretty cool.
first impressions: it's huge. it's fast.the camera is a big upgrade.

Thoughts on the HTC Evo V 4G?

I'm a current iphone guy that's more than likely switching to droid. Virgin Mobile has the phone for $299, and 300 minutes + unlimited everything else for $35/month, tempting.

That only happens to me if I was reading a thread when I left the app previously. It loads the thread back up when I reload the app, and back closes the app. Loading it up again brings me to the proper home screen and everything works normally

Last gen phone though, the new Evo on Sprint destroys this for instance. However, it appears to be a decent phone and for the price should be good.

Re: Summer/Fall 2011 Android Thread

Just came across this thread.

I have had the Galaxy SIII for a few days now and as my first ever smartphone I am very impressed.

Ahhh, didn't realize that, googled the release date and it said 5/31/12, guess that was just for Virgin Mobile. It's still tempting, as I'm bored with the iphone, hard to justify an extra $60/month for a S3, though it does look incredible.

how were you able to get it already?
has it been released already in some markets or on some carriers cuz for verizon it doesn't start shipping until next month.

my droidX is barely hanging on and driving me insane and i'm trying to hold out on replacing it until i can get a galaxyS3 as from what i hear its just about the best choice for an android device.

just curious without reading thru the whole thread what are people's thoughts on the best android device offered on verizon?

all i really do is text, internet and listen to music and i never root my phones or do any kindv custom ROMs or any of that stuff.

thoughts?

It was just released on att and sprint. I pre-ordered on Verizon with a ship date of 7-10, after giving up on the Incredible 4g being released in time to keep my unlimited plan. My only concern is whether I can adjust to the size, coming from an original Incredible.

Ah I should have mentioned that I'm in the UK.

I chose the blue one too and imo after comparing them both side by side the blue one looks 10x better than the white.

You basically have two choices if you want the best - HTC One X or the Galaxy S3. Most people say the GS3 is better and on paper it is, the HOX has the advantage with a better screen and seems to be the most popular in the looks department. You cant really go wrong with either (assuming the GS3 that set on fire yesterday when a guy was using it in a car holder was a freak one off and not a design problem).

On the software side S-Voice might be worth putting in the plus column if you drive a lot and need to find out the average rainfall in China and it does have some cool features that only work with other S3 phones like auto pairing via NFC and file transfer via wi-fi which you will rarely use but get to brag about if you are so inclined. Plus a manufacturer finally made a lockscreen I wouldnt instantly junk and replace with widgetlocker. But they also use a menu button in the design which is very much a step backwards and Samsung has fiddled a lot more with 4.0.x than HTC in order to replicate Gingerbread as much as possible because "that is what consumers are used to".

But essentially it just seems to come down to whether you value battery life or screen quality more. The HOX having a fixed non-removable battery is just completely iTerrible but the pentile screen of the GS3 gets a lot of abuse for ****ty colour reproduction. The HOX not being able to take a mini SD card is what would tip me as I use a lot of predownloaded music but if you stream off of Google Music or Spotify its not quite the huge downside as it seems on paper.

Re: Summer/Fall 2011 Android Thread

The new swiftkey 3 is out of beta and it is really cool. I really lovebeingabletotypeabunchofwordslikethis then hit spacebar and it just recognises them all adding spaces where expected even if i typoed a few letters. Not sure it is better or just a cool party trick and it only works well up to a certain length but it impressed me as a demo of their prediction engine.

Its not perfect yet, I still wish they had a compact layout for us small screen users and I may still find the lack of fullscreen portrait mode too big to make me switch but its worth checking out and is on sale now if you guys didnt buy swiftkey x previously (if you did you get the new version under that license which is nice of them).
