I really didn't know that.

I got mine a week ago fwiw. Still fascinated and exploring not sure if I'm able to write a review since this is my first touch screen phone with all latest generation software/apps.

But first impresions, very smooth, very fast, very easy for use. As thing goes I guess you'll have to put it on charger at the end of each day if you whant to use it the next one.

If you have some questions I'll try to answer but as I've said - not a pro user atm.

Here's a simple, clean looking clock/weather widget I've been using for a while.

Galaxy S user here and finally trying to tweak my phone after being comfortable with the mere essentials for a few months.
Here is what im using:

The backgrounds on the clock and to do list is fully transparent and the search and calendar is semi transparent but i use a plain black background on stuff so it makes the widgets look like opaque black.

So top to bottom i have the green battery life text in the status bar which is Battery Notifier (Big Text), Quick Settings is up there which can be accessed with a long press of the search button and the screenshot icon is the last. Winamp widget is next, Transparent Clock in the middle, Simple Notepad is the to do list, GO search underneath that and GO calendard is to the right. The four icons (2 i recoloured black and white, the other two i made myself) are for Apps Organizer which when clicked look like this which is how i access my most used programs in its pop ups which is much more elegant than normal apps dropped on the screen imo and AO is an improvement over the built in folders. I also run two homescreens left and right with GO twitter widget one side and GO calendar on the other side. The buttons at the bottom are clear enough, the only big change is i have Evernote where the app drawer icon usually lives and i use GO's all in one dialer and contacts instead of seperate ones and my app drawer can by accessed by sliding your finger up any part of the screen as a gesture shortcut which is part of GO Launcher which is what i used to set the screen to 5x5 instead of the normal 4x4. The bottom icons can be scrolled left and right independent of the home screen and i keep my market apps on the left and news apps on the right.

Its taken me a few weeks experimenting but i think im close to what is optimal for me. Just come up with ideas, hit the market to see what they have and experiment with layouts and various widgets and apps. But id strongly recommend you get a launcher to start with as it frees up a lot of creative possibilities and you can experiment with themes and stuff as another level of customising.

Re: Summer/Fall 2011 Android Thread

Bumping for the next HTC superphone coming to Verizon. Originally labeled as the HTC Vigor, it looks like it will be launching as the HTC Incredible HD. The specs are as follows...

- 4G LTE
- 4.3 inch display
- 1280x720 screen HD screen resolution
- 1.5 Ghz dual-core Snapdragon processor
- 1GB or ram
- 2.3.4 Gingerbread
- 8 MP rear camera w/ dual LED flash recording at 1080P along with a 2mp front facing camera
- 32GB SD card along with 16 GB internal storage
- Beats by Dre studio ear buds and integrated sound

Supposedly this beast is launching October 13th.

I hope this thing has solid battery life (comes w/ rumored 1620 mAh battery) compared to the Thunderbolt. Currently awaiting this and the Prime.

Re: Summer/Fall 2011 Android Thread

anyone have a good suggestion for a text viewing app (as in document texts, not SMS texts)? seems like there's nothing that reads text files natively on android, nor is there anything that i've found on the market that does a fair enough job. annoyed the hell out of me that text edit doesn't read rtf files correctly.

if it can edit the file, then it's just gravy, but what i really need now is a good viewer (for txt/rtf/doc)

Re: Summer/Fall 2011 Android Thread

1620 mah is pretty sucky and yeah, from what ive read HTC arent that good at battery conservation compared to LG or even Samsung. Mine is 1500 and isnt that highly specced, big spec phones with not big spec batteries are just dumb, i get why they do it though, top line battery costs are brutal and most people dont pay attention to battery size and life. Hopefully by the time im ready to upgrade we are over the 2k mark at least on a standard size unit.

I also think its dumb buying a Gingerbread phone at this point with ICS so close and allegedly gamechanging (however one defines that).

That said i read a review of the phone and its pretty awesome. With the exception of batteries the current top line phones are really sick.

To me, it's like this.. if you play a **** ton of games, you can appreciate having a sick loaded phone. If you don't game a ton, you're just massaging your ego or you have the money to blow.

Most people wouldn't even know the difference between a single core Vs. a dual core. I really can't say that about screen/camera resolutions or memory size though. A lot of people would notice that.

For example, I rarely use my 4g connection. I don't personally see a huge advantage Vs. the amount of battery it uses up. So, I'm either on wifi or 3g (98% of the time). If I was playing some type of online game though.. 4g is where it's at.

I think if I played games on my Nexus S, tbh, I wouldn't like it as much.

God bless heavy gamers though.. they pretty much accelerate technology. Imo they're the reason you can get blistering speeds in a phone meant to email and make phone calls with. Because of them, my Google Maps app runs flawlessly.

I'm starting to realize how true this is. I gotta stop thinking my phone is a web browser and apps are like toolbars.

No, apps are more like different tools in a Swiss Army knife. Once you've added them, just leave em alone until you need them. "Putting them away" is only gonna slow you down in the long run. * I like how they call it an app "tray".. makes sense

Also, fwiw, I'm a control Nazi when it comes to keeping my **** "stripped" (going overboard with my "cleaning" duties lol ). This phone is helping me to chillax the **** out on that ****

Lol

Is there a way to have a toggle switch on my home screen to turn 4g on and off the way I have with the Power Management Widget to toggle Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Screen Brightness?
