More likely is that they are on to the cab driver "I don't have any change" scam.
Cabbies pull this all the time trying to weasel bigger tips.

I've done this before with ziplock freezer bags and more people should do it. Not because of the cost savings (though that is a benefit) but because it's a simple way to reduce trash. I also bring my own shopping bag most of the time at the grocery store, they give me a penny! Obv, the penny is not why I do that.

Re: Stingiest thing you've seen someone do
This actually happened to the owner of our company, not to me, but a couple of years ago, she got a call from a customer that was just furious that his premium had increased. He was already yelling when she picked up the phone, ranting about how he'd been with the company for so long and never had a claim and what was this bull**** increase in premium. Customers' rates can go up for all kinds of reasons, everything from a general rate increase to moving, divorce, bankruptcy etc, so my boss tried to placate him while she pulled up his policy and his most recent bill to see what was going on.
His premium, which he paid quarterly, had increased by 5 cents per month. So his bill was 15 cents higher than normal.

Weddings are hard, you are paying for loads of stuff and you have to draw the line somewhere, and no matter where you do, you'll piss someone off. Just suck it up and dont be a dick to someone you are supposed to be friends with.

You guys are funny. Bro's before hoes, wife be damned huh? Lol
What you say about weddings is true but when you 'draw the line' with my old lady over a crappy dinner, then I had to make my own choice. He didn't pay btw, his sister did (parents long dead) & I would have reimbursed her in a second if it really was about the money. But pride would never let anyone actually admit that. Instead they'll just make an awkward request & expect everyone to follow it cuz we were friends since grade-school. No thanks..

I can see why a principal would be lonely, but not rich.

what is wrong with you? I mean, obviously he didn't invite your wife because of expense. Demanding an invitation for someone who isn't invited is rude, and refusing to go and rubbing their nose in it is psychotic.

Re: Stingiest thing you've seen someone do
I work at a shop where we get tipped in a jar; there was a customer who didn't have 15 cents so he decided to take it from my tip jar as I am watching him, he didn't even bother asking

Re: Stingiest thing you've seen someone do
bring bolivian coins to peru and try to pay at a restaurant with them..
5 boliviano coin is worth less than a dollar, 5 soles in peru is nearly $2, lol, they look identical.

Re: Stingiest thing you've seen someone do
I have a friend I go the Seahawks game with, we both have season tickets. A few years ago, at the first game, he asked me to buy him a beer, I told him sure no problem just get me the next game. Well the rest of the season, he didn't buy one beer because he didn't want to pay me back lol...
