Should I be tipping the mailman? I see him lugging big bags of mail around all day but I never thought of sticking a couple bucks for him in my mailbox.

LOL @ anyone who thinks that tipping or not is based on "what is right" rather than what the norms dictate.

Some people give Xmas gifts to their mailman, but I never did until last year. Then again, my mailman is also my brother. YMMV.

I don't have a brother, but if I did I would give him a Christmas present every year.

1. at a superbowl party my neighbor took a bunch of the food that was prepared and not yet surved and hid it so that he could have it in case we ran out. he is not fat.

2. my neighbor would charge my mom money to drive me to school once a week, even though his kids went to same school.

BRADENTON — Two Bradenton Police Department officers resigned after they were accused of skipping out on their bills at a local restaurant, according to an internal affairs report released Thursday.

Chris D. Roden, 28, and Timothy S. Miller, 26, both resigned after police found the officers broke departmental policy by not paying for meals at Gecko’s Grill and Pub, 4310 S.R. 64 E., late last year.

In previous interviews with the Herald, Gecko’s management said they had offered law enforcement a 40 percent discount off bills as a way to show them their appreciation for serving the community.

The investigation also revealed the officers could have placed other officers and/or citizens at risk.

While they were eating at the restaurant, they told dispatch they were patrolling neighborhoods miles away, according to authorities.

For example, on Oct. 17, Roden told dispatch he was patrolling a neighborhood in the 600 block of Manatee Avenue East when he was actually eating a bacon cheeseburger at Gecko’s, according to receipt transactions and communications records.
Real life Superbad cops....Amazing.

I think the policeman deserves a small break. He was eating bacon after all.

My stingy/stupid waste of time story deals with squeeze bottle for condiments (mustard, ketchup, relish). I will use a knife to cut the bottle open in order to get all the stuff out of the bottle.

Now maybe this thread can get back on course.

i gave a $25 Borders gift card to both my maillady and the UPS driver last Christmas.

we order a TON of stuff online, and i've gotten to know both pretty well, UPS guy especially. we always bull**** for a minute when he comes, and if no one's home, he's pretty good at hiding packages where we told him we'd find them so we don't have to wait another day or whatever.

not a big deal, but not stingy either, so i guess i'll stfu.

You don't give your brother a Christmas present? That is pretty stingy.

While playing 1-2NL at the MGM, I saw a guy accidently drop a chip in his soda and rather than asking a server to get him a new drink, he removed the chip and continued to drink his coke. When asked why he didn't ask for a new drink, he said he didn't want to tip another dollar for a drink.

my uncle told me about a guy he used to play basketball with that would keep a bottle of mouthwash in his glove compartment and gurgle with it then spit it back in the bottle and reuse it. He would also ask my uncle if he wanted some.

edited to add: wait i guess this is not stingy just gross, since he did try to share

Giving a mailman a christmas card with some money in it is not uncommon.

giving your garbage men a 12-pack of beer or 2 for christmas is also well-received.

I haven't done either, but felt kind of bad for my mailwoman a few years ago when we had like 10" of snow in the seattle area (very uncommon for the area). She rolled up in her little mailcar around 730pm with chains on when I was out in the street. I was surprised they were even delivering mail as the rest of the city was completely shut down.

I asked her if she was almost done and she said she had a few more hours left before her route was complete. The snow made her work day take about twice as long as normal.

My first thought would be to chug the soda to get to get the chip out of the bottom. Then I thought about the thick coating of grey goo/STD's that are on all the chips in B&M rooms. That's disgusting.

Make a prop bet for eating $20 worth of food and make us wait months for the results.

so today i went to wal-mart, it's raining outside, and as i'm walking across the crosswalk towards the store this lady in an SUV rolls down her window and says "excuse me, could you tell me where 'waahhhhl maart' is?"

she looked like she was 35-40ish with red hair/freckles and a really strong scottish accent (or irish? idk), had a 7-8 year old kid in the passenger side. this is right next to a wal-mart superstore in a town of 35k people, and i'm 100% sure i wasn't getting leveled.
