grunching...

i invited a couple of friends to watch the lesnar/carwin UFC at my place. i was cool with paying for the event, i invited em, s'all good.

they asked what i'm doing for dinner, told em i havent had any. they asked if i'd be down with pizza. i tell 'em yep, i'll order, and tell them it will be it's going to be $15 each, that coo? they say yes.

they text me at least 5 times while on their way "did you order pizza yet?" yep yep yep. they arrive, one hands me 10 and says i'll get the rest to you tomorrow, the other says nothing. after delivery, pizza comes to 50? (pizza, garlic sticks, tip)

k so they cheaped out on the pizza, i can handle that. the $ wasn't a huge deal..here is the next part that got me. buddies are leaving, one stops and says "hey, can i take some of that pizza home with me?" i was so embarassed he would even ask, i would feel like a total prick if i said no, so i handed him a box of pizza and they were on their way.

i could handle paying for the ufc event and the pizza, but to ask me for some pizza on your way out? can you be more ghetto?

That's as ghetto as your typing capabilities. Please tell me you typed all that on your phone.

Thank you for straightening me out on this, I can sleep soundly tonight. I'm not worth a billion yet, so I guess I shouldn't really worry too much about it.

Hate to use this cliche, but: Reading comprehension FTL

In case you still don't get it, compare these two sentences:

a) If it's common knowledge that you're worth roughly $1 billion dollars, tipping less than 15% is lolbad.

Not really a stingy story. More along the lines of frugal.

35 years ago or so, my Grandfather had my brother and I tear down his parent's old house on his property. We saved every single board, every doorknob, screw, fixture and whatnot.

He also expected us to straighten out each and every nail that we pulled to save for future use.

Took me a few years to figure out that it wasn't really stingy. We used those boards, nails, screws, etc. to build sheds, repair homes and so forth using "original equipment" on ranches in the area.

Added value ftw.

This is something I do, since i live across the street from mcdonalds whenever i go i ask for 5 packets of sweet and sour sauce and take them home. i save them up to make chicken stir-fry. i can afford to get it at the supermarket but i can never seem to bring myself to buy a bottle instead

When I become a billionaire, it'll be common knowledge.

I'd be way more annoyed about the lack of paying for the pizza than taking some with them. In fact if there was left over I would have offered them it to take. But not paying for the pizza after you hosted and they got a free PPV event? Wtf?

I never quite got this, why on earth is a waitress entitled to some of the billionaires money. why shouldn't he just pay the same as everyone else. Why does it make it more lolbad for him to tip less than for Joe the plumber

the whole scenario was very awkward. i've had other friends, same situation, no problems at all. i would have felt like a jackass goin "hey man, you owe me $5, you, you owe me $15" lol

needless to say, they're OUT for all future PPVs

I was once out shopping with my g/f and one of her friends. Her friend would drag us to cheap shoe stores (price range strictly 5$-15$). Search out the shoes she wanted, and then put the shoes whatever the price into a 5$ price tag box....... the shame...

Technically, you are still supposed to pay the sales tax but obviously no one ever does. There was a lawsuit a while back about states trying to get Amazon to release their sales info to the states so that they could try and go after sales tax revenue since states are all broke and want monies, but Amazon basically told them gtfo.

LOL divorce
When my grandparents divorced about 40 years ago, my grandma got most of the stuff, but my grandpa took a newish crockpot. Grandma decided she was entitled to the crockpot so she sent him a letter (which he still has to this day) demanding $0.50/day rent. When he refused to pay it she took him to court. The judge laughed at her and cut my grandpa's child support payments in half.

Had Tiger left her $50 I still get the feeling she'd be like "WTF he coulda left more"

The fact she freaking cried tilts me way more about her than him.
i agree people get too self entitled and if she bitched about 50 then shes a **** but 11 pct is rediculous
the only thing worse would be if he paid with a hundred and actually waited for change

sometimes inbetween games of a double header ill order pizza for the team, if its freezing ill get everyone hot chocolate etc
last year after we beat a team i truly depsise in the playoffs we went out drinking and the tab was like 500 bucks and i paid it

this year someone who has played with me for 3 years was going to the deli and i asked him to get me a gatorade
he came back and i said i owed him a dollar

11% is not "ridiculous."

But seriously let's stop talking about tipping.

The people who think rich people should pay larger tips for no reason other than they are rich: Do you think it is ok for a poor person to pay zero tip? What about a 5% tip?

One of my (ex)friends borrowed fifty euro's off another friend to go out drinking. A few days later was asked for his money back, gave about 35 of it back and said "oh I bought drinks for Paddy (another friend), you can get the rest off him."

Couldn't believe my ears when told this, obviously enough we don't hang out with this guy any more.
