Problem is, nits don't work this way. They go ballistic over 2 cents when it is not in their favor. Of course, they conveniently ignore all the times business have rounded in their favor.
I wouldn't care, I'd prefer all businesses worked this way as the penny should be eliminated, but agree that this is only going to cause headache for the business, especially the waitstaff, without providing any real benefit. If they want to eliminate pennies they should just always round down and this usually results in bigger tips anyways as customers are glad the restaurant isn't being a nit.
