Also, the little debbie guy is an *******. Most businesses get charged more than .25/transaction for running a card.

Ditto, same thing when I worked at Lone Star Cafe. F church people were the second-worst tippers and would camp out on tables for a long ass time.

you should have immediately called them out on this at the bar? good people not calling out bad people for doing things like this is part of the reason the bad people exist and continue to do it.

My dad's side of the family is huge. I have 12 aunts/uncles and too damn many cousins to count. My grandmother would steal silverware from restaurants b/c it was cheaper than buying them to have enough for everyone when we'd have family dinners.

Lady at my old work won 25 million. So she threw pizza lunch. 1 slice and 1 pop for everyone. Man was everyone pissed when they realized they didn't bring lunch and had to finish the 12 hr shift on 1 slice of pizza.

That's ok cause she got her's. She then went back to her home country and gave her brother half a million and he decided that wasn't enough and slaughtered her and her whole family.

That'll teach her!

I've always wondered how much I would give my family but where does it stop? I'm really close to my cousin (was/whatever) so that'd be a given for me but then I have to give his immediate family money? My other cousins? assuming I won like 20 mil.

Whenever this guy would come out with us to eat, he wouldn't order anything for himself. He would wait until someone else finished then ask if they were done and eat their leftovers. I don't know how you can do something so humiliating when you're not poor.

I argued with a starbucks cashier over 13 cents. I used to order the same thing daily, so I knew how much it cost. That day the cashier put some bs extra charge on the receipt for syrup, which it didn't have.

This is how I view it. You shouldn't be required to give anyone any money. They shouldn't expect it from you either. If they treat you horribly cuz you didn't give them anything, that's just wrong on every level. same thing with friends.
Don't get me wrong, I'm def giving some of my family money but not everyone, esp the ones that I am not close to.

There's an old thread here about a guy who won $X million and decided not to tell barely any of his friends/family because he wanted to keep the relationships happy. He already had comfortable money, though, which made it easier to hide.

But I'm sure if you won the lotto there would be a nevger-ending stream of ppl looking for handouts or for you to "invest" in some ******ed business idea, and then they'd be all bitter when you don't share a lot with them.

I never understood why so many ppl think just because someone gets a massive windfall that they should share it with a lot of ppl.

Wife has a ridic rich uncle who came into tons of unearned cash and we never asked for a penny and we don't expect anything when he dies. It's sort of sad, really, because he's estranged from the rest of the family. It's his money and he can do what he wants with it.

There is this old woman who comes by my store everyday and picks up the used cig butts off the ground and smokes the last 1/8 of an inch out of each one. when she smokes them she has a look on her face like it's the best part of the day.

Many years ago my dad came to visit me and suggested getting pizza for dinner one night. When he starts looking at the prices he complains that pizza is way too expensive where I live, and he ends up buying a frozen pizza from a grocery store instead.

His house and car are completely paid off and he makes decent money. No clue why he is so cheap.

jasonindallas - yeah, I just can't imagine asking for handouts from somebody who makes a big score like that or is super-rich from his own work or other luck, etc. It just seems so inappropriate to me.

In a way though I'm kind of envious of the people who lack such self-awareness and just go around doing such things thinking it's completely okay. Because they are far more likely to actually get somebody to just throw money at them than I am.

A lot of companies pay by 15 minutes. Let's say you clock in at 8:06 and clock out at 11:54, you will paid 4 hours even though you were on the clock 3 hrs and 48 minutes. Do that everyday, it adds up in a 2 week paycheck.

This reminds me of when I worked at Home Depot. There were employees there that would clock out a min. late 4x a week and on the 5th day of the week, they would leave an hr early to "cut" time. Of course management was oblivious to this and never did anything.

I don't know man. I'd be pretty f'ing pissed if my brothers or sisters won the lottery and didn't throw my some cash. Of course it's their right not to, but I'd still be pissed.

I'm fairly close to all of them though and it would actually shock the crap out of me if they didn't give me anything. That probably explains why I'd be pissed if they didn't. But I have over 50 first cousins and I'm not close to any of them. If any of them won, I wouldn't expect a dime.

Saving condiment packets is totally standard.

Matt - Yeah, I think a lot of that stuff is standard. I mean, if you're working for $10/hr or less it's not unreasonably stingy to wait an extra minute or something if not doing so will cost you $5 or $10 or something.

Some places will specifically look for people who are always clocking out at 7:38 or something instead of 7:37 if that's the midway point of the quarter-hour...7:37 gets rounded back to 7:30...7:38 gets rounded forward to 7:45. If an employee is abusing this or trying to angle it in some way then they get disciplined (or just told to knock it off and stop waiting by the clock until it turned to exactly 7:38). So in those situations the employee has to choose the right battles. If you are about to leave at 7:36 then you wait until 7:38 to make a couple extra dollars. If you are leaving at 7:32 then you just get it over with and leave. Obviously they understand that they're pretty much never going to see a 7:37 on anyone's card pretty much ever...but as long as it's not a long string of 7:38's they at least can see that the person isn't sitting there and doing this every single day.

Yeah. I have a drawer with a bunch of stuff I have extra. Good for picnics or travel or whatever. Also, there's 0 chance I ever BUY horseradish.
