as someone who grew up in a hick small town, as ****ed up and hard as it is to believe, yeah pretty much everything revolves around high school football. I honestly cant fathom why people outside of high school give a **** about the football team, but yeah, all those TV shows and movies you see, arent an exaggeration in the slightest

In this case 8,000 to 9,000 people show up to games in a town of 19,000.

We had a movie called Friday Night Lights and a tv show with the same name describing how huge football can be.

The most disturbing thing about that 12 minute video to me is I watched the entire thing and was in no way moved emotionally. Like mentally I realize how horrible and ****ed up and disgusting it is, emotionally I was just like "meh, whatever". Like im no longer amazed or even surprised that a group of people could be that ****ing out of whack with what a person should be like. Maybe its because I just cant fathom how multiple individuals gets like that that I just kinda shut off so I have no emotions about it because it doesnt even make sense to me, and Im so disgusted by society that I just dont care anymore? Or maybe im just a ****ty person or sociopath or something. Same thing with the sandy hook shootings, I had zero emotional response to the entire event.

news like this are coming up so damn often and frequently to the point where repeated exposure to such traumatic news may have lesser effect on our brains (desensitization) or perhaps it is a way of how we deal and cope with it.

Like the saying "those who don't care once cared too much". Caring and getting emotionally affected by incidents like these will drain your energy, and thus your mind may start to think "oh, another incident again..?" as a defense mechanism

i used to get very very upset and angry when i heard of such things and even thought of taking law into my own hands. But as time takes its toll, i get tired and really sick of all these to the point where i get numb.

This whole story is so appalling. I grew up in one of these small football crazy towns. I was an all state center. I can't imagine the people I grew up with pulling **** like this.

When I read the story I was overcome with murderous rage. If this was my daughter everyone involved would be brutally murdered. Even if I could not come up with a plan to kill them and get away with it. I would make it my goal in life to follow these ****ing scumbags around. Tell everyone who they are what they did continue to insult them verbally, pray one of their under developed brains forced them to attack me. Then stick a razor Sharp K bar through their ear.

For me personally. If this was my daughter only blood would make me feel better. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but how can you say this "rape crew" does not deserve to be tortured and killed?

I can see where some people were coming from in this thread. Ive had mates spend 50k and 70k on defending charges against rape. Im so cautious these days i wont **** a one might stand till morning after.

i grew up in town near los angeles, i never once heard of teachers giving better grades to athletes or helping them get out of rape.

Just starting following this Friday. Pretty crazy as I never remembered this happening in HS, then again I went to a small HS with no football team. It's amazing how brazen kids are these days in regards to posting items to social media sites.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out, as IMO its pretty obv that the girl was sexually assaulted multiple times, but the evidence against the kids seems pretty circumstantial (rape kit was after she showered and found no evidence of rape (semen...etc). Kid in the video while he appears to be bragging about the girl being assaulted, could beat the rap in court by just saying that he was joking and bragging to be "cool".

I'm kind of with the below link on Anon's involvement, it gets the story back in the spotlight and hopefully will achieve proper justice for the perps, which is a net positive but they are going to drag some people though the mud who don't deserve it as collateral damage. They also do make a ton of unsubstantiated claims that sound, far fetched (I hope for humanities sake), like the football coach who reward star players with access to his comp during school to watch pr0n or that he was in on getting his players booze and drugs, or the sheriff being running a gambling ring...Pretty sickening that two of the parties the girl was at that night were at asst football coaches houses though...

What it is all sounds like beyond the offence and speaking in terms of town stupidity, is some kind of generational small town asshattery. Like, how the truly smart rich people don't just leave their kids all their money knowing trust fund babies often grow up to be clueless ****tards. So too it can happen with influence in things like law enforcement and small town privilege and something as stupid as high school football tradition.

The only places in America where high school football is a really big deal are places no educated person would want to live.
