Steak purple inside- Is this ok?

I bought an inside round steak for dinner tomorrow. It is currently marinating in the fridge. I had to cut it in half so it would fit inside the marinating bag and in doing so noticed the inside is purple. This has happened twice before and both time I threw it out.

Google is not to helpful on the subject. I got some basic tips about steaks and learned that if they look grey or have a really bad smell then they're rotten. I also found a lot of blogs/website with names like "rottenmeat" or "the beef is bad".

So ya, is this purple colour normal for steaks?

Ive always eaten steak when its purple inside and Ive never had any problems. Blood before it hits oxygen is bluish purple in color.

Lol, is this a serious question? all meat is purple when it's raw. I guess some would call it pink, but really, you would be able to tell if it was rotten. The smell is awful.

I'm pretty sure it's okay. I think they use some sort of dye to mark the end pieces of meat. I thought the dye was usually blue, but I'm guessing it can be purple too.

Ive never heard of this before. Ive heard of stores doing something (no clue if its dye or something else) to older meat that has lost its color so that it is more red than it natually would be.

purple is fine. as the meat ages. it will dry out and the color becomes more intense. Aged beef will be purple, or even green.

At some steak restaurants you can order your steak "blue rare". This doesn't mean the meat has gone bad, and it is fine to eat.

If the meat is purple, but not in an aged way, it is likely that the cow was stressed before slaughter.

Raw meat is kinda like vagina. While it often looks really gross and appears to have gone rotten, unless its sticky and or smells really bad, its ok to eat.
