Possibly stupid question, but I haven't gotten a new credit card in years: If I apply and am approved for a card, do I still have to wait for it to come in the mail, or will they give me a number I can use right away? I need to book some travel in the next few days, and I'd like it to count toward the "spend x dollars in the first y days" bonus.

It depends on the card, but usually you'll have to wait for it in the mail.

Some details here:

Thanks so much. I wasn't sure if that was a thing yet or not.

Thing that came up recently; We're invited to my father in laws birthday party, at first we're like sure we'll come but then we heard that some guy is bringing his non-vaccinated kid (3 or 4 year old kid). This guy is pretty close to FIL and we didn't want to raise too much of a stink so we arranged for someone to take care of our own kid (6 weeks old at that point, no vaccins) at home while we go to the party. FIL hears this and after unleashing a conspiracy ridden phone call about vaccines upon my wife he tells us he will be asking the other guy to leave his kid at home.

Now my FIL is probably the worst conspi****** you could know, he literally believes them all and posts extreme rants on facebook about it. He's not a dumb guy but somehow it got a hold of him. He is also the reason why the guy with the non-vaccinated kid opted out for the vaccines. My wife is pretty deep into science ***** so no way he will convince her and that's how the phone call concludes, they also say that this will not drive them apart from each other but that its rather a differing opinion which should be respected.

My wife knows the guy who didnt vaccinate and feels bad about this so she texts him something to the tune of, I didnt mean this to happen this way, we were going to leave our own kid at home but my dad insisted on this solution. She receives an ear (or text) full which basically insults her in all kinds of ways.

What would Jesus do?
01-19-2019 , 06:53 PM
Jesus would bang prostitutes and not worry about the potential kid in an era without vaccines just fyi.
01-19-2019 , 06:54 PM
To be fair, he never really banged her right.
01-19-2019 , 07:04 PM
Well, patricide was definitely off the table for Jesus.

FIL is an anti-vaxxer, but still asked the guy not to bring his kid? Sounds like he knows:

Who are the *******s paying $3.79 for regular when the majority of area gas stations are under $3?
01-19-2019 , 07:48 PM
How hard is learning to code and do I need a computer? I want to get in on this app thing while it's hot.

there is no easy answer and its the main reason i avoid large family gatherings, and really gatherings in general.

i do not have the time or patience to deal with fk-tards like antivaxers or whatever the flavor-of-the-month is.

i also dont give a rats ass about their reasoning or feelings on the matter.

I’m with Thin on this one.

There are a bunch of gas stations around SFO that routinely charge up to $1/gal more, I'm assuming, because business travelers are returning rental cars that don't require much gas anyway, and/or they are expensing it.

I have a conspiratard brother, though I've been pleasantly surprised at how simple it was to wave away his conspiracy **** and reel back the conversations between us to surface-level stuff I can handle (the latest movies and TV, mostly).

I think that my parents give oxygen to his stuff by arguing with it, but he hasn't been at all insistent in trying to push it on me once I showed my disinterest in engaging with it.

This is pretty much where Im at but she (obviously) loves her parents and family and I don't want to be responsible for a break up between them over some petty stuff (imo in the grand scheme of life some conspi****** stuff is kinda minor).

The stupid thing is that this would have never been an issue if his birthday would have been two weeks later, after my kid actually got his vaccines. Im not sure if this can be salvaged but the situation was heartbreaking for my wife and I dont want to have to put her through something like this again if possible.

No I did not. I thought of it once, then forgot about it. I’ll order this week. I’m enjoying an Irish cheddar at the moment.

Yak,

The important thing to realize is that it wasn't you that "put her through this". You both did what was best for your family, and unfortunately, some of this family tardery just is. There are no great solutions that keep everyone happy, so just set your own priorities and let the chips fall where they may.

There's a gas station in Mendocino city that hasn't gone under $5.75 in at least 5 years.
