Re: On Sociopaths
ITT people claim they can tell someone doesn't have the right diagnosis given to them by a licensed psychiatrist based on interweb postings.

so they are extroverts, but only reason they hang out with other people is to scam and deceive them?

Re: On Sociopaths
Idk if you said this in the Sandusky thread or here, but you said you've thought he was a little off in the past. What sort of stuff made you feel that?
Why was your reaction weird, or why did he find it weird?
Also, jmakin, that $100 bill thing is quite normal, or I'm also a sociopath.

What is it that separates sociopaths from regular people? It can't be inclusive to people who do bad things and misjudge how others perceive things. Do they have a different thought pattern than most before/during/after committing an act? Do you have to do something really bad to be a sociopath, or can you exist solely in narcissistic social realm without hurting anyone? Are all sociopaths bad?Are their motives unique? How do you spot a sociopath in a crowd of goodwill charismatic folk? What experiences have you had with sociopaths?

I wonder what the diagnosis would be for someone who argues with themselves on a message board

Re: On Sociopaths
I am wondering if sociopathy is biological or can be acquired through (traumatic) experience?

this seems to be a perfectly example. Notice how they dont have anxiety when you confront them. Thats what makes them so good at manipulating people, they dont have that little freeze that normal people have when they get caught on something. They just keep doing what is optimal to them at that moment without twitching a bit.

That guy was noticeably uncomfortable and he was just being asked, what I assume are, routine questions.

you claimed earlier you had a minor in psychology or something, even with the most basic psych knowledge you can see that jmakin guy is no sociopath. Just like george clooney is not schizo.

Re: On Sociopaths
You might be the one-eyed dude looking at one of those 3D Magic Eye puzzles, yelling at everyone, "It's just a picture of static!"

Is "one-eyed dude" a euphamism for a dick?

It doesn't take much training to deduce you're an idiot, though.

Like most things, it's probably a combination of nature and nurture, with one being more dominant (even much more dominant) is certain people.
