upper lip vs. bottom lip? this is just as easily accomplished with pouches or regular chew. spitting factor is an ok plus, but there is still some spitting required with snus. cigarettes are lame.

i guess i just don't see the benefit to snus as compared to other chewing tobacco products. also the fact the it's 'so small that you can't even notice people chewing it' kind of completely negates the point of doing it. you may as well just have nothing. 3 or 4 pouches of snus are required to get any effect.

Lancet is a premiere medical journal. Since studies like these have been coming out Sweden removed the necessity to label this product as "Can cause mouth cancer."

Snus and pancreatic cancer?

"Cancer statistics show no evidence to support a connection between the usage of snus and pancreatic cancer, despite the fact that Swedes consume the most snus in the world. Current epidemiological studies have not provided valid proof for a connection either. Recently, Swedish and Norwegian media have published alarming reports claiming that snus causes pancreatic cancer. But, is the alarm motivated from a scientific perspective?

The most important and well-established risk factor for pancreatic cancer is smoking. There are also studies that support a connection between alcohol, diabetes and pancreatic cancer. "

Wait. Isn't the northerner a smoke shop? It's funny too, because from the same university, a different doctor says: Professor Goran Pershagen, who chaired the research, told the BBC: "An overall assessment of the experimental and epidemiological evidence indicates that snus is carcinogenic."

"The strongest evidence is for cancer of the pancreas and oral cavity."

Seems like it's undetermined much like cigs were back in the 20's-50's?

I tried camel frost and camel caramel? plus skoal forest I think it was. The camel frost was most comparable to the scandinavian snus in terms of consistensy and to some degree flavours. My main hassles was that I was too sweet for my taste and way to small, had to use 2-3 at once to get any effect.

The camel caramel was just awful, tasted more like candy than snus. I also bought on box of skoal forest (those are the big fat pouches, right?). Didn't really go well with me. It had a nausiating quality. Could be the strength of the thing, but that seems unlikely since I snus like half a box of stark (which means strong in swedish, ldo) a day. Maybe it was the moistness of the thing that maybe me swallow a lot more chemicals and stuff?

The Rape No2 had a very light lingon berry flavor which was great. I have also had the general white which was great as well.

The camel snus is very heavily flavored and sweet. On the one hand there is a certain swedish snus characteristic that I don't find 100% awesome which is missing from camel snus. I also like the shape of the camel pouch as it is a bit more comfortable than the flatter swedish snuses. However the Camel really is dry, especially after 1-2 days and just not very good.

If you snus correctly (upper lip and not too far to the back of your mouth) you only get a hint of all the flavors as you are not salivating and mixing your saliva with the snus much.

This guy knows what he's talking about. In regard to flavours; I think what I like most about the swedish snus is that a lot of them have a smokey aroma. If you like Islay-whiskeys, then you should definitely check it out.

Its totally worth it especially since I know people who this has worked effectively for. The American snus is not strong enough for smokers to really switch but the Swed stuff is.

Also shipping from this place was a bit expensive so ordering a ton is mandatory.

I am curious on how people are storing it. I am storing all my non mint flavors in tupperware in the fridge and all my mints in a separate tupperware in the fridge. Is the fridge necessary? Tupperware seems like a good idea to keep it moist.

Fridge is absolutely necessary if you're not going to use for a while. If you keep it in room temperature it will dry up. Tupperware seems like a nice touch.

Even better though is keeping it in the freezer. Adds to it's shelf-life, plus, ice cold snus is sweet on a warm summer day. When you're grabbing a new box just let it defrost in room temperature.

Snus isn't 100% healthy but its far safer for the body then an actual cigarette. A smoker switching over to Snus would improve their health. You can say its the lesser of two evils.
