Yeah, but putting down 1-3 letters for 10 points and a ****ty rack is often not as valuable as paying 10 points for the potential to get some good letters to play with.

You could be right.

But how many tiles are you swapping? More than 3? I also don't swap to block the opponent w/ my ****ty 10pt. word.

yeah this is pretty common among all games that simulators are better than most or all humans. backgammon, chess, scrabble etc. thank god poker isn't at that point.

to find out the best play in WWF, quackle should work. its the best scrabble sim out there. i don't have a copy on this computer, but iirc the board and bonus squares are custom. i don't remember if you can change tile values and using all your tiles bonus. regardless it's much better than those anagram solver things because it factors in optimal strategy as well.

there's a WWF specific site where you can just plug in the whole board as you play. i checked it out once when i was doing investigative work on one of my opponents.

that will be enough to beat the vast majority of players, but it seems like it doesn't produce the best plays, just the highest scoring one

Yeah, somebody linked a few of them in the LC thread. I can't imagine taking the time to enter in my whole board for each of the ~15 games I'm playing, though. Though now that WWF has a FB app I imagine somebody will make a Chrome plugin that automatically pulls the board from that and officially ruin the game.

i have a particular friend who does this to me. he was playing 4 letter words like KITE one day and then all of a sudden out of nowhere he developed the uncanny ability to play the longest word on his rack every single turn. he sucks at strategy so i still beat him most of the time, but its really frustrating to lose to someone who does that ****, especially when they blow open a close game with some bizarre bingo that even the best scrabble players probably dont know.
