If you want to break 500 it helps to play really bad players, or good players who agree to play "wide open" before the game starts.

Putting up 500 against a competent strategic player who is wary of opening up big scoring opportunities is nearly impossible.

I doubt very much that this is the case, but I guess with WWF's weirdo board layout it's possible that it's a lower scoring game than scrabble when played defensively.

Free tile counter is cool, I think optimum usage is for endgame because you know exactly what your opponent has left and in a close game you can block what they should or only can play and also not play something that would give them a good play, and even make a play you normally wouldn't because you know they can't do anything

Just curious, do you consider it lame to count the tiles the old-fashioned way to figure out your opponents rack at the end? (I've done that in an uber-close game, yes I'm a hugely competitive nerd lol.)

if you know how many of each individual letter there are then no i don't consider it lame (haha, well at least i don't consider it cheating). if you have to google to find out how many of each tile there are, then it's a bit of a grey area. i did the latter once and felt sleazy. i don't believe the tile breakdown is listed anywhere in the actual app or on the official website.

I generally count the s's and blank tiles in every game if It could lead to a big score, and knowing a couple others from just playing so much has helped at times ... I assume live scrabble players that are in completion keep a tile count going

Yeah, supposedly tile tracking is standard in Scrabble tournaments. Makes it a game of complete information once all the tiles are drawn.

what if i go to a completed game to count the tiles rather than googling? is that less sleazy (besides being pathetic)? the only tile i really count/look for is S and i know there are 5.
in related news, the blanks should be a diff f-cking color, it's totally unacceptable how easy they are to spot in scrabble and how annoying it is to have to scan tiles looking for the letter with no point value.

the scrabble online site where a lot of top players play tracks tiles for you. the deluxe scrabble version has the tile distribution on the side so if you want to work out what tiles are left in the bag, you can. i think it was lame for WWF to not come with an info section that tells you about the tile distribution.
