this interests me becuase ive only been playing for a week but i thought it was std to just guess words or "guess and check" by putting letters at the end or beginning of words when you are stumped...

anyone care to comment on if they do this or not?

Yeah, I'm afraid it's ridiculously standard to do this, at least to some extent. I like to think I have a really strong Scrabble vocabulary and rarely have to check a 3-letter word by trying it to see if it's good (and never have to do so with 2-letter ones), but when there's a TW/TL combo open that I need to use well to win the game, damn straight I'm trying a few phonetic combos to see if I can "discover" a word that fits.

GMan pretty much rapes me every game.

I've ran a bit bad wrt tiles (I think) but still I'm pretty outclassed. I'll get him once though. I probably have averaged 100 pts lower vs Gman than vs. everyone I've played.



DukeSucks and I have had some real sick games so far, I think all of them have been within 5-15 pts.

I knew that it was going to be the SOWPODS list before I even clicked on that link. I am not British, so I think it's a list with like an extra 125,000 made up words on it. What list does WWF use? Also, is there a tile distribution anywhere?

I only play on PC because I have neither an iPhone or an iPad. Not certain if it is a problem using Chrome or just with the fb app, but I'd say it freezes and crashes Chrome about 80% of the time when I try to initially load it. Normally if I get it open once, I'll just leave it up the rest of the day but it can be kind of a PITA. I notice the problem is exacerbated when I open it in a separate tab and then try to do stuff on other tabs while it is loading. I try to just wait it out and let it load without doing anything else until it loads and it has worked some, but I've had to change the way I browse to do this. Wish they would get it fixed, or at least have a way on the app for me to tell them about the severe technical difficulties I am experiencing with it.

yeah, all of our games have been good so far. I'm just too inconsistent. I'll play somebody close for a couple of games, then have a few games where they beat me by 200 points.

I have found at least four different glitches on the iPhone version.

Sometimes when I place a letter down, then multitask out to another app and come back, the letter becomes part of the board but I still have the letter in my queue.

When I receive new pieces, sometimes the numbers on the letters are aligned incorrectly until I touch the letter and put it back.

Once a blank tile that was played previously showed up as a square symbol instead of the letter it was.

One time I placed some pieces down the tried to play but it was not a word. Then when I ended up passing, I had gained 15 points on the iPhone app. (I did not have these points on the Facebook version of the game)

The PC version is a huge advantage too because you can try words to see if they work, then still decide not to submit them. The downside is all those damn stupid achivement popups.

I was 10 points ahead in a game, one letter left in the bag, I have the Q and nowhere to put it so I swap. Friend confirmed furious

Another thing Zynga has to fix...implement "no swap with <7 tiles left" rule. I'd be a bit pissed in this spot too. (not that I haven't stuck you with the Q on more than one occasion, lol)

Weird situation where my opponent might use all his tiles first and all I have is a blank. I wonder if there's any point penalty.

i will step in here to recommend wordfeud, dunno if it's available for the iphone, it probably is, but it's a better game than lame ass words with friends. i was able to play F*CK for 42 points the other day. yes, i suspect wordfeud is the myspace of the wordfeud/words with friends divide, but i don't care. i'm triumph44 on there if anyone wants a game.

It almost works out that you could have been 36 when you opened your 2p2 acct, and 44 when you opened your wordfeud acct.

no, the board is better. in WWF there's nothing in the corners which makes the board effectively smaller.

haha weird, i just played 'SQUIRE' v someone about 2 minutes ago (i don't really know who the guy is, presumably someone with ties to 2+2). so i just read this and thought 'OH **** NO', loaded the game, and a D on the end would indeed open up the TW, but the J X Q and Z are already down, and no move has been updated. so i think i'm in the clear. either that or i'm in for the shock of my life in a few seconds time.
