I guess what Im wondering about, and it would be a question for Curtains; if I do win 10A and play the championship game but I am out of the country until the 13th, do I forfeit the game automatically? Can it be postponed until I return?

I know that the winner of each bracket moves up one ranking the next season so it's of some importance to get an answer to this, or when the game would need to be completed by.

You can play the championship game whenever it doesn't change your ranking for next season. Ideally they would all be played between seasons but it's not the end of the world if you postpone it

I challenged a player the second day of the season they have not played back yet and the game is still there. It may make a difference whether you accept the game or just leave it as an invite.

Having a hard time concentrating this time around and not surprised that I've been getting crushed. Going to sit out the next go around until things slow down again.

Speaking of quantity, I tend to just skip the two letter words out of habit (and because it doesn't make verification noise) unless there's a point multiplier or it's J/Q/X/Z. Probably to my detriment, but I'd be curious to get opinions.

I only get 2-letter words on accident now

I believe 2 letter words are all 1 point even if they include z or j. Even qua was scored as one point (i guess they consider it 2 tiles even though the Qu is on one). I only get 2 letters by mistake and I have a lot do to problems swiping on my phone. they seem like a waste of time to go after on purpose unless you are going for a word record.

Not sure if the time ran out or he physically resigned but the game showed up yesterday as resigned. Looks like 2 weeks was given.

Greg

Looks like Greg61182 is a no-show for group 9B. He completed 0 games so I assume we will just be an 8 person subgroup?

I literally never look for two letter words, and usually only get 1-3 of them per game if that because of random finger slippage. I've heard that a good strategy is to just swipe your finger around rapidly during lulls so you'll pick up some random two letter words while you're busy scanning the board for better words; that way at least it's not completely unproductive time. I don't do it, though.

I'd be curious to know high level players' opinions on two letter words, whether they explicitly look for them and when, etc.

From the peanut gallery, 630 and 63 words first round, which may be my high so far.

Not sure I'll ever overcome age and hand / eye enough to compete with you big leaguers, though my scores are improving.

Think of this as my way to encourage others who are not in the 1% of players to contribute here.

I'm not going to be able to finish this season. In 2 of my 3 remaining games my opponent never challenged me, but I'm going to be demoted no matter what, and I'm sitting out next season, so I suppose it doesn't matter.

Sorry for messing up the data.

Its a little crazy how much the people at the top are still improving. I would have assumed they would level off at some point but many of them have improved 20-25% in 3-4 seasons. Curious how high they can go.

For the people in the lower atmosphere--I have tracked my stats and it appears that since the end of season 7, my first, I have on average improved by 2 words per round per week and 60 points per game per week. At this rate I will catch up to group 1 in January of 2014 if they will do the honorable thing and stop improving.

They are maybe improving a little bit but it's abundantly clear that Zynga made the boards juicier. I tracked my results constantly and barely went up over 600 games (like would improve 100 points every 200 games or so) and then overnight was averaging like 500-1000 more per game. This is simply impossible unless the algorithm changed.

Also I believe there was a brief moment where the boards got much worse....for maybe just 2-3 days. It was around when everyone was seeing the weird double Qu boards, and the triple Qu boards. It's like they were tinkering with stuff or something. Somewhere around there all my results started getting screwy.

I remember a stretch were everyone said their scores had jumped, but mine seemed to be on the same trajectory. I did not set a new high for a long time until a few days ago when I got 4957 (sooo close to 5k!) . Did your words per round jump or just the scores? Seem like the biggest factor in scoring is the location of the triples and what letter is the triple. They could manipulate scoring that way or by having higher word count boards. The words available does not seem a lot higher but I have noticed fewer ice cold boards (<250 words). Hopefully my improvement is not due to the juiced ball era of Zynga boards.

Sorry for the late response Gadu. I have found the old spreadsheet used and these are the ones who participated besides Lyndsey and myself: Curtains20, Dannenejoy, Aidanhenry, Southjerseysteve, Judge Laziest Hand, Thechronick, Writ, Jswzz, Rcc Ohio, DaveFet and Left4noodles.

At that time, My average score was only about 4300 points and I was the worst of the group
