The competition is definitely at a higher level among 2+2ers, who won't offset your bad tile luck with bad plays like opening triples and dropping high-point tiles for no bonus. Against family and friends, I was winning at a .750 clip against my wife (the only really decent Scrabble player I know IRL) and well over .900 against everyone else, who lacked either the necessary vocab skills, or the tactical skills, or both. Against 2+2ers I'm pretty solidly at .500,
maybe slightly over, after a few dozen games.
