the solution is stop hounding everyone and wasting your own time looking through the spreadsheet to see who has or hasn't completed their games (as illustrated in my past post, this isn't necessarily accurate). just send one email to everyone with 3-4 days left reminding that it ends soon. then boot the people who didn't voter when it's over.

this must already be a lot of work, try to make it easier on yourself.

curtains needs a little love (and deserves it) so thank you again for doing this! i love scramble but my friends suck so this is awesome!

ya i am grateful, tone of my last post probably sounded a little off.

i just think curtains should step back, do less work/babysitting and let nature take its course.

I think it's ridiculous when people complete 2-3 rounds a week. I expect some of my friends to finish one round every 4-5 days, but people who join a league?

I really want the league to be even more condensed, to run just for 3-4 days then take 1-2 week breaks, then start up again...

yeah, when you're joining you know what you're getting yourself into. boot their asses. it just doesn't make sense that they don't play their games in an appropriate amount of time when you sign up for it. i don't even understand why you wouldn't enter your scores until the very end either. unless you physically can't, then you can still send curtains your score (which i have done in the past) and he will put them in.

Shark, it's scary cause I'll probably be in group 2 next season. I was hoping to promote back to 1, but I feel you're better than I am and you only got 67%, means its very competitive.

Curtains, I understand your frustration. I have given up on trying to finish the old tournament. Boot anyone who doesn't give you an update or complete at least almost all their games. You give notices ahead of time which is good.

This. There are plenty of people willing to play in this thing. People in the higher groups, primetime and rosen excepted, tend to finish in half the allotted time.

Gah sorry all in group 1. I've been pretty neglectful of my games this season. Been travelling the past few weeks and just keep forgetting to hammer out some games during down time.

I agree with EltBus, we strongly discourage people to intentionally withhold their scores. When you have your score, unless you are physically unable to get it to me or post it, please find a way to enter it. We obviously don't want the entire league not entering everything until the final day, and therefore I don't think it's fair for any individual player to intentionally do this. Thanks a bunch!

Didn't expect to win Group 1 when I started out 0-5 against groupie then went 2-3 against her in my next game.

Next season is going to be really tough. I would be really surprised if the next winner of Group 1 wins with over 65%. Hope it isn't curtains so I maintain my titles lead

Also we had a few guys who didn't record all results and didn't contact me explaining why. I also asked these players to confirm that they wanted to play Season 5 and heard nothing, so unless I hear from them very soon, they will be out next season. It was only 2-3 games in all cases and was maybe their opponent's fault, but that doesn't mean you can just have multiple unrecorded results and not reply to my messages. It was minor stuff so not a huge deal and would have the players back in if they wanted, but they didn't reply and if they don't very shortly they will not be in next season. Those players are

Season 5 Ready, here was my email to the league for those who mostly check the forum:

Hello everyone,

Season 5 of the twoplustwo.com Scramble league is ready. Note that we are up to 7 groups and 59 players this time around. Also a big congrats to It's Oki, Dapper Dan, Plumbst, WeirdChess1 and Vanessa Selbst for their great debuts! Five out of the Six groups were won by rookies. Maybe I am too conservative with my newbie seeding The only veteran to take it down was thechronick who was the Group 1 champion for the second time.

Before I start, there were a few players who had failed to play about 2-3 games by the deadline. The amount of games was not so severe and it's possible that it was due to simply forgetting to record. They had no major impact on the results and I would have been happy to have let these players back in the league, however I need to be contacted in this situation. There are just way too many players for me to deal with hunting individual players down at this point, and so if the season is over, there are two games missing for you, and I haven't received an email from you at any point explaining why, you are simply going to be removed from the league. If you would like to get back in the future that is fine, just let me know. Just do note that if you fail to record multiple games and don't contact me with an explanation, this will be the consequence.

For new players: it's important to remember the following:

1. There is a maximum of 2 powerups per round!

2. The league starts now, and you have until September 21st, 12 midnight Eastern time to complete your games.

3. The scoring works as follows: 1 point for each round you win, 2 points for winning the entire match, for a total of 5 points

4. Before every league game, you must say the word "League" in the chat window, so your opponent knows it's a league game

5. You play everyone in your group twice.

6. In general the top 2 players in each group get a boost in the seeding for next season, and therefore are likely to move up to higher groups. You can find out more information by clicking on Season 6 seeding.

7. At the end of each game you must record your result on the league spreadsheet. If you or your opponent are not able to, I highly recommend taking a screenshot of the final score. It's exceptionally simple to do regardless of what type of phone you have...I think. Any games where the score is not entered and I am not contacted by either player with a good excuse/ warning, I will make up the predicted score based on results so far but penalize both parties. (ie maybe will give only 3-4 total points for the match instead of 5, and will ensure that this result doesn't allow any player to leap into the top 2)

8. If you are not 100% sure how to use the spreadsheet, please either ask me, ask in the 2+2 thread, or PM me your results directly. Do not just randomly enter results without knowing whether you are entering them correctly. This has happened in the past and it's a pain to fix them. Also once you have your score, enter it or notify me as quickly as possible please.

btw a quiz for the forum. Should there be a 3 day break in between seasons? Or something like that? Vote on it plz For me it feels like a week+ break since I finish all my games pretty early, but I imagine it's not the same for everyone?

I like a few days break, it makes people look forward to the season more, and I would predict, gets more games played faster, and becomes less "work" and more "fun" when there are breaks. I think a 3 day break is about right.

Yeah it's sort of what I'm thinking too. I mean we are all sick addicts, but 3 days won't kill us no?

I also feel like I have a week between seasons, usually have a large portion of games done in first 3 days or whatever.

Sadly will break trend this season, in Hawaii until the 10th for a wedding and won't have a ton of sober downtime to grind scramble, and my drunk game might be <5% against this group 2.

I guess I'm too sick an addict, I kinda feel like you do where there's a break in between seasons anyway because I finish my games early.

Maybe allow players to start their games if they want (after the spreadsheet is completely set up and finalized) but state that you don't have to start your games until after the 3 day break. I don't have a strong preference either way though.

So should you just challenge everyone in your group or is there some order or etiquette as to how you should play the games?

Challenge everyone and then if they don't all challenge you back after a week or so you can challenge them to a second game
