What OOT is

OOT is for non-poker related discussion that does not fit into any of the other off-topic sub-forums. While the definition of acceptable subject matter is broad, we still require posters to put thought and effort into their posts. Start threads that will be of interest to a wide audience, not just you or a few of your friends. If you have a question to ask, make sure that the answer is not readily available somewhere else (like Google), that the question has the potential to generate interesting discussion, and that it is not better suited to another forum

OOT Isn’t your doctor – if your other nut just dropped and you don’t know what to do about these weird feelings, go seek professional help
OOT Isn’t you personal Google search engine – can’t find it on google? Then your search skills suck and we don’t care
OOT Isn’t your personal blog – OMG Did your dog really sit up and beg that’s soooooo interesting…

The Basics
Don't violate the twoplustwo T&C
Read it and love it if you violate it (circumventing the profanity filter, posting links to goats making out with your mom while your dad takes pictures, asking where you can download the newest episode of the bachelor or being istewart <aka racisms>) is a violation and you will be dealt with accordingly. There is little wiggle room in them and they are simple enough to follow.

Don’t Post Lazy low content no effort posting – post something good or don’t post at all
Don’t post an Ask me threads about a crappy job or situation (listen if you’re going to study moon rocks actually ON THE MOON then yea go ahead but no one cares about your job at Taco Bell)
Don’t ask “what xxx should I get thread?”.. Like what kind of car? What kind of job? What kind of dildo <exception made for females>
Don’t post List threads – what’s your favorite 10000000 things no one cares about?
Don’t be a linktard - Oh, thanks, but we can subscribe to Digg / The Onion / the news / etc on our own. This includes flash games, funny stories or pictures, etc.
Don’t Post in the wrong forum –
There are a wide array of off-topic forums on the Two Plus Two website. Topics that fit into one of these forums are not permitted in OOT. Some of the other forums we have here include:

--About the Forums: Any issues relating to forum rules, moderation, locks, bans, etc. Do not post about these in OOT, you will get banned. Seriously.
--Sporting Events: Anything related to sports, tickets to games, TV coverage, etc.
--Brick and Mortar: Anything about common gambling destinations can go here, including Vegas, AC, etc.
--Travel Forum: Where to go, what to do, where to stay, pricing, thinking of moving to such and such a place, etc.
--Politics: Anything about Politics goes here. No derailing OOT threads with politics please, this is another problem we deal with harshly.
--Student Life: Anything about school, college searches, majors, issues w/ profs, etc.
--Computer Technical Help: Any problems you have with your computer.
--Science, Math & Philosophy: Is there a God, why does he hate me, do you believe in evolution, etc.
--Laughs or Links: Funny stuff, links with no added content, etc.

A note on Trolling:
A troll is defined as someone who purposefully derails threads, adds nothing to the community and is just an outright douche. If you come in here just to make trouble prepare not to stay long. This is especially true in the T.V. Show/Movie threads. Divulging who shot J.R. without using the spoiler tag is a form of trolling. I hate trolls and will hunt you and your alternate accounts down.

The Train Wrecking clause - I love a good train wreck , for those who don't know what this is it generally involves you or someone you know posting a thread about someone else (mostly the opposite sex) and them coming to the boards to find out that you took a picture after you gave them a dirty Sanchez and now we all seen.
The rule is simple once you post it in OOT it becomes the property of OOT. If you wish for your horribly bad decision to be deleted we will gladly help you but you are taking a ban in return (no less then 1 month) If you do it on gimmick , your primary is going to get ban for a year.
There will be no exceptions made. Friend or noob.
Train Wrecks are not against the Terms of Service , tread carefully before you go bad mouthing your friends slutty mom.

To clarify , if you ask for your thread that you started (or someone else started for you with your permission) to be deleted or locked because it has turned into a wreck you will be ban.

If however someone just blatantly searches the net to find a pic of you and posts it in some random thread to try and embarrass you , that person will get a 4 day temp ban.

Infraction points seem to confuse the hell out of most of you so to understand it I am creating this stickie. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about this.

First understand by posting in OOT you are subject to much stricter rules and harsher moderation then almost any forum on 2p2. If you don't like it grab a helmet and hop on the short bus down the side bar to BBV4L

- How they work - Infraction points are a site wide penalty system that all mods can see and have access too. 100 points gets you perm banned and only a Red (IE Ryan or Matt) can over turn.


The Rules for points here in OOT. (all rules are subject to moderation discretion)

First Warning - this is to let you know
"Hey guy maybe you want to read that stickie first before you post about your cat losing its hair" . However if you completely tard up some post or OP you might be subject too...

First and Second Offense - 25 to 49 points . Generally speaking these will range from 25 to 30. If you've received a warning and then 1 -2 months later break the rules you can expect some of these. They will be set to expire either 3 months 6 months or a year depending. If you start a craptastic thread expect stiffer punishments.

3 Offense 50-75 - you obviously don't get it , you suck at the intraweb and you've made the mod's lives miserable , enjoy pissing in someone else sandbox it won't be ours much longer.

Once you hit 100 don't cry and don't come back.

Also note the following exceptions

TV threads - you post a spoiler in one of these or tard it up , expect to get a temp ban until after the EP airs (and your post erased)

Being a complete tool in a thread or creating a really horrible thread (to the point of just down right stupidity) will most likely get you a temp ban.

4L tarding (acting like a 4L idiot) saying F OOT or any other lame nonsense that they think is hilarious will get you 5-7 days

while most of the regular OOTiots know what racism is and seem to be able to talk about it in an intellectual way, it seems the other **** tools who enter this forum can't seem to grasp the fact. Hitler Jokes, calling people Africans or whatever else you think is either A)not racist or b)funny offends people. ( Personal Opinion everyone is to sensitive on these issues and I don't give a flying **** but alas others do)

So to minimize my involvement in the up coming race war here is the rule

No more Race type threads in OOT , Intelligent or other wise.

I am tired of modding them , they always deteriorate into ****. If you want to post them go to SMP or Politards or anywhere but here. If you start one its going to get locked and you will get a profile warning.

Just another way of putting this:

As a catch-all off-topic forum we get all kinds of stuff here. This does NOT mean that anything goes. It's very difficult to define what is appropriate for OOT, let alone what qualifies as quality. That said:

- New threads will ALWAYS come under more scrutiny than single posts. Don't make a new thread just because a fleeting though crossed your mind, give it a minute and decide whether other people are going to be interested as well. If your thought trite, racist, or just stupid? Don't post it.
- Put some effort into your posting. Throwing up a link and a one-line comment is not OK.
- Threads that consist solely to be jokes suck 99.9% of the time. If you have a single funny thought you want to express, don't make a new thread.
- You really shouldn't post new threads unless you have a good idea of what works around here. Posting a new thread when you haven't spent much time in OOT exposes you to the possibility that you're making a big mistake.

What's "appropriate" for OOT is at the sole discretion of the mods here. We've been here a long time. If/when you screw up and are punished, you may feel that the punishment was excessive. The problem is that when we let the stupidity get too far out of control it gains momentum, is harder to stamp out, and many of the people who like regularly posting here get angry and bitch and moan and leave. So please just give this some thought, don't be an idiot, and you'll be fine.
