btw, i go with The Who. They're not part of my generation, at all, but they're playing during my time, and they are awesome.

Right cause something like that isn't subjective. I'm not saying there wasn't some really great stuff for it's time back in the 60s/70s that revolutionized a lot of what we hear today. But to pretend that music hasn't progressed in the last 30-40 years and that better stuff isn't available today than was back then is incorrect, in my opinion. There is also a ton of crap today too, but the best of today is better than the best of 40 years ago if they were both released today, which is really the only way to look at it. Look, I like a lot of older stuff, but I'd be lying if I didn't say it felt dated listening to it in the 2000s because people have taken it to the next level since then.

It doesn't matter when they were released.

Most modern guitarists can't hold a freaking candle to Page, Clapton, Hendrix, Alvin Lee, and tons of other guitar players from 40 years ago. Look at the crap that passes for R&B now compared to Motown. There are a few exceptions, but to say that the average level of musicianship among recording artists now is anywhere close to what it was 40 years ago is, well, crazy talk.

MTV made how you look more important than how you sound, and music has suffered for it.

Except that isn't what I said. I said the best of today is better than the best of 40 years ago. And again, that's just my opinion. I'd definitely agree average quality has gone down, at least as far as what the masses seem to enjoy.

You called the decade "far and away" better. That's objectively wrong, even if this was the best decade (which it wasn't).

They were definitely the greatest band during the time that I was most engaged in pop music (around 1995-2003). So I answer "yes" to the poll.

OK Computer and The Bends are both in my Top 10 albums of all time, and Kid A is pretty amazing too. Not as into their most recent stuff.

Everything after OK Computer is bland, boring, insipid. Can't believe they don't have it out of their system yet.

Anyone voting yes I can immediately dismiss any other musical recommendations from. Desperately needed this to be a public poll.

ughh i hate it when people just slob all over old music at the expense of newer stuff. there is plenty of great music now, dont be so biased because it reminds you of when you were young, smoked weed, and went to rock shows.

Also, as far as I'm concerned, no band that has played in the 1990s + comes even close to comparing to older bands like The Beatles or Zeppelin, etc...
