Girl #2 looked like she was actually running. Obviously the guy was much faster, but her form looked good until the kerplunk. Girl #1, on the other hand, looked like she would never have a chance at this, like, ever.

Army chick fell and she's not the type to make excuses. She was a good sport.

After she brushed herself off I had her race chick #1. Even though she's a good 3" shorter she beat chick #1 pretty handily.

We also talked quite a bit about how far the race would have to be before Zen lost and we decided it was somewhere between 2 miles and infinity, and probably a lot closer to inifinity.

This bet was a bit rigged, I guess, considering I have a degree in sports medicine. We spent a good week in kinesiology discussing this subject. Girls are shorter, have smaller lower extremity muscle mass, and their wider hips create an angle at the knee joint (the Q angle) which makes any activity that involves lower extremity power very rigged against them. Most people think "oh the world-record women's sprinter is 85% as fast as a dude, so chicks in good shape are kind of fast." This has everything to do with the freakishness of world-class female athletes (tall, massive muscle mass, narrow hips with no Q angle) and little to do with the gap in lower extremity power between women and men.

It's very difficult to be able to carry a full term human gestation in your pelvis, deliver the infant between the bones of your pelvis, AND be able to sprint and jump well. This thread illustrates how successful the women's rights movement has been in conditioning people to ignore the fact that women are physically capable of having children... at the expense of other less important feats of strength.

I don't know about this. For most people, getting "in shape" isn't really going to affect your 50m time, since you are just running top speed the whole time. However after about 400m the fact you have a higher top speed than somebody else isn't nearly as important as maintaining your pace.

Although clearly neither of the girls ran particularly well in that video so maybe he would be fine.

this is so true, i was appalled when i read the start of this thread and everyone was saying 1:1 was fair.....the guy is not obese and hes not 50 so he has an edge on literally like 95% of girls

haha a+ race, i was way off. zen looked a lot quicker than i would have thought, and girl2 i had thought was some sort of athlete. i think he could have skipped and beat girl 1

I expected the guy to win short distance but i don't agree with you that the well trained girl won't catch up on an untrained male. Not sure what the shape of your mate is but untrained there will be a point where he has to start walking while a well trained female will easy beat him.

In my highschool we had a girl who was a national champion runner in the class and every running event that was 400meter or longer she totally destroyed every male. Basically her topspeed was lower but she could maintain a near topspeed running speed for a much longer period.
