I don't know about this. For most people, getting "in shape" isn't really going to affect your 50m time, since you are just running top speed the whole time. However after about 400m the fact you have a higher top speed than somebody else isn't nearly as important as maintaining your pace.

Although clearly neither of the girls ran particularly well in that video so maybe he would be fine.

this is so true, i was appalled when i read the start of this thread and everyone was saying 1:1 was fair.....the guy is not obese and hes not 50 so he has an edge on literally like 95% of girls

I expected the guy to win short distance but i don't agree with you that the well trained girl won't catch up on an untrained male. Not sure what the shape of your mate is but untrained there will be a point where he has to start walking while a well trained female will easy beat him.

In my highschool we had a girl who was a national champion runner in the class and every running event that was 400meter or longer she totally destroyed every male. Basically her topspeed was lower but she could maintain a near topspeed running speed for a much longer period.

When Irieguy decided that he wanted to go to medical school his father (me) informed him that I did not have the $$$$$ necessary to fade med school. Being the innovative quick-thinker that he is, he got the U.S. Air Force to pay tuition/books/stipend (4 years) in exchange for a 4-year commitment to serve...When he graduated from med school he was able to go into a residency program not connected to the military and, then, commence his obligated service in summer '01...Also, being a quick-thinker, he jumped at the chance to serve as a Doctor @ Army Base (Ft. Irwin, CA.) instead of an Air Force posting. I think his choice was highly influenced by the fact that Ft. Irwin is a 2-hour drive from Las Vegas and Greenland isn't.He also correctly ascertained that being an AF Doctor @ an Army hospital would prolly allow him to dodge alot of military nonsense.

after seeing this video I'm kind of amazed how some females can overcome their handicap and run 100m in 15 seconds or whatever.

before seeing it, I also thought you had by far the worst of it; I thought you were hiding something from us (more than just superior anatomy knowledge, something more like "oh btw girl 1 smokes 40 cigs/day and girl 2 lost both kneecaps in the army")

those women are often freaks of nature more or less, google, check out their builds and you'll see they aren't exactly run of the mill people.

I'm faster than average and a girl on my softball team could almost run as fast as me (I only beat her by a couple steps over like 50 yards). She was pretty athletic though.

As for how far the dude can hold a lead...I think 2 miles is wayyyy too much. Beyond short distances, it's not about how much power your body can generate if you're in such poor shape that it can't generate that much for very long. He'd prob be running 10 minute miles at best - how fast can a chick in good shape who spends a lot of time on a treadmill run a mile?

I mean, I play basketball once a week and I'm still in terrible shape cardio-wise. I doubt I could run two miles in under 20 minutes.

i think the girl(s) would overtake the guy less than a mile in. people who don't run regularly don't realize how hard it is to really get back into it after long hiatuses and how taxing it is on your body.
