The original Batman was Lewis Wilson in the 1942 Saturday-morning-serial version. Although Adam West is the best, unless for some weird reason anyone takes Batman seriously at all (the very mistake those dumb movies make)...

In this case I agree with you. You're being punished for your past history.

Custer,

Check out Sofi.com. Had a pretty great experience refinancing student loans with them last year, as has everyone I have recommended them to. I think they are still (weirdly) mailing you a pie when you finish the process, too. The big thing you lose is the ability to pause your loan for lack of income. But it sounds like that's not a problem for you.

So you don't have to Google it, it's a private/startup company doing student loan (and now other) refinances.

This probably belongs in cheap luxury thread or other.

Cit,

I am well aware of sofi but thanks for the heads up. Didn't know about the pie thing.

Probably going to refinance at the end of the year or next year.

Yep people confused points ev with win ev. I'm surprised he is the only one to do that strat.

Ill admit that my method of picking didn't take into account EV. Or seeds. Ill talk to you guys tomorrow when UCLA has brought the upset.

Custer,

"people confused points ev with win ev."

What makes you think that? The only pick that would make me think that is Si's absurd WVA pick, and that's just a case of lolEuro.

EV is totally against the spirit of hunchcapping and should be outlawed in this thread.

i wish a beast still posted here so an elite hunchcapper could explain to me what EV is.

Yeah mentioning EV in a $25 hunchcap is pretty lol.

Because almost everyone chose dogs with high seeds. This increases variance which has the result of lowering win % and increasing points EV.

Obviously this is only the case with the current distribution of pics. I more people did the safer bets like Howard the more that changes.

Obviously the early submitters don't know this, which then suggests silent/hidden picking is better.

Basically in a format like this optimal is to go against the masses in your pics.

Custer - You understand this is a hunchcap, right?

At face value sure. You realize people, that are non euros, actively consider picks using logic though and the 'hunch cap' terminology is a joke? There is zero doubt in my mind the majority of people considered value when making picks.

Edit: if this was truly hunch capping there wouldn't be an obvious trend of high seeds being picked. That's a strategy, which means they are not hunches

If I'm choosing foreign teams I choose the best name, but if I'm choosing American teams I always pick the city with the best weather.

Custer,

The spirit of the thing is just to pick what you think is most likely to win and see who wins.

Obviously one could wait til the other entries are in, look for correlated sets etc, and construct an entry that guarantees winning based solely on one key outcome or something.

But that's not the spirit of the $25 hunchcap. It's possible for normal people to both make informed sets of picks and do it in a manner that keeps things fun and casual.

I never implied doing analytics I implied going against the masses. Which requires 1 second of thinking. You obviously exaggerated what I was saying to make a point and distort what I was saying.

Edit: lol phone autocorrect
