These are metaphorical.

Re: Is it possible to have a relationship without sex?
Also, did God create just the planet earth? Or the entire universe? And if so, do we all go to the same heaven as other intelligent lifeforms in the universe (as intelligent as us) or are there different areas of heaven for different intelligent species. Did God drop the same issue of the bible off at every planet with life as intelligent as us? Did he send a different son of his to each planet? He sent Jesus to us, sent his other son Craig to another planet, sent his daughter Brenda to another, sent his annoying dickhead son Tony to a planet he didn't care so much for, etc?
cliffs: Is god consistent across the universe with all similarly intelligent lifeforms?

Well clearly the answer is yes, especially if you find someone who's also religious. How is that not obvious before even making this thread?

I should point out for anyone thinking I'm attacking religion with these that I'm a semi-practicing Jew.

Dude, I was debating theology on the Internet when you were still just a sperm in your daddy's ball-sack.
You have no idea what the Bible REALLY says, so please stop pretending that you do.
Keep that in mind.

That is what I mean by times were different. These laws do not apply anymore. The Bible is not all about rules. It is about history and learning how to better yourself and how to treat others.
I think that is the biggest misconception that people have. The fact that the Bible isn't a big book of rules.
Yes.
Well that is not the case and I do not believe that. If you accept the Lord then you will not go to hell. It is really as cut and dry as that. Everything else in the Bible are ways to better yourself and physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Well almost everything. I am not a scholar.

Is this a serious question that will in any way enrich this discussion? Clearly no one knows the answers and having people guess won't be terribly enlightening, and it presupposes that there are other intelligent beings out.

I realize that this topic would touch in the religious topic, but not to the point where everyone is trying to catch me in a contradiction or say I am not at all intelligent and I should basically just kill myself. So please, can we try and stay on topic.

We're not trying to be as condescending as it seems. Why are Christians allowed to try and convert non believers but we're not allowed to try and open your closed mind a little bit to see what we perceive as absurd?
It reminds me of the girlfriend who everyone knows is getting cheated on, and her friends are trying to convince her that maybe her relationship is not as dreamy as she perceives it, yet she just refuses to believe otherwise, and convinces herself of anything to keep her perception of things. (again sorry if that is a huge a-hole analogy, I'm really not trying to be an ass)

All religions pick and choose what they want to believe of their religious teachings.

My strong FAITH in it leads me to believe there are in fact other intelligent beings. Lets assume for discussion that they exist. Clearly noone knows the answers to anything we're debating. I guess I shouldn't have asked questions that don't have an answer that won't make the thought of the all empowering book of truth seem ridiculous.

Also, this should probably be in the religion forum.

So why do you insist on following the rules for abstinence but not these rules? How do you know which are outdated and which aren't? Also, are you going back on your statement here: "I just obey what is written in the Bible" ??

Well sure, there's always that way out of it. But otherwise, being gay or having premarital sex earns you a seat in hell. (ETA: that's what most Christians believe, that is)

My point was that there is no evidence anywhere or even suggestion anywhere of what the answer would be, so you're really just asking people to completely fabricate an answer for you. Anyone could come up with any answer. What would you do with the answers? Can't disprove them, none really any more ridiculous than the next. I just don't see the value.

This really sums up the ridiculousness of organized religion in general. Debating the existence of a god is one thing. We know so little about anything and everything in the universe. But organized religion is so absurd. How could any of them possibly be accurate and correct?
It's equivalent to trying to reproduce the exact details and plot line of a novel knowing not even the title. How often do you think that would happen? Bit of a longshot

It's amazing the absolute GOLD responses you're giving describing organized religion perfectly.
Now after you ask someone to fabricate that answer for you, I want you and everyone else on the planet to follow that answer as ABSOLUTE FACT, live and die by it.
Seem absurd?

It says we should just worry about our world so I would imagine if their are other intelligent lifeforms God is consistent.

It is obvious. I just wanted to create debate and talk about the media.

I do know what most of the Bible says. I am not claiming I know everything, and I do not understand why you presume that I do. I am just answering questions to the best of my ability.
