You are correct. It was Lot. But, "different times back then"? What the hell does that mean?

The answer is that a benevolent beardy man didnt make everything dude. All life is biological competition; biology isnt perfect.

If it didn't forbid the act then I would have sex. It does forbid it.

It's stuff like this that I don't understand. Christians will just put a twist on anything they need to change because of its absurdity but follow everything else. Like how can you just say 'oh yeah there was lots of incest but it was a different time'. How about 'they also used to not hump before marriage, but we now realize after thousands of years of educating ourselves, that this is unrealistic and unnatural'. How can you just brush off all the priest/boy sexual assault stuff (sorry to use this overplayed example, just first that came to my head) and follow whatever you choose directly, alter whatever seems absurd in modern times, and carry on. Thee's such a gap in logic there between being able to brush off/alter certain aspects and yet require intense strict following of the remainder. Its one of the most tilting things about religious debate. Being able to alter anything to prove their point regardless if its consistent as a whole.

That verse is about sexual immorality. Nowhere in the Bible is sexual immorality defined to include premarital sex.

Read the Bible. A lot was different back then... Jesus had not died for all of our sins.

He did make everything. I am not omniscient so I cannot begin to answer "why?"

This is exactly why I can't have a conversation/discussion with devout Christians. Any time they're cornered with no reasonable answer, they just answer 'Its out of my power to answer that", or some other "I don't know, I don't care to answer that" dismissal.
The bible says that? Perhaps there's another Bible for the rest of God's creatures that we just haven't found yet or we're unaware of.
It's crazy to me that you wouldn't consider the implications of the questions above and not think to yourself 'hmm maybe I'm making a TON of assumptions that make very little sense"

I've forgotten more about the Bible than you will ever know.
So, do we just throw out the Old Testament? Because, you know, Jesus hadn't died yet, right?

Daughters do not have sex until they are married or until their fathers are dead. I read that, think it was in the Bible. It's true!

I am not altering anything. I am not in your "group" of what you would consider stereotypical Christian. If you met me you would see, but unfortunately I cannot type out all of my beliefs and my personality. Have faith
No Christian/Catholic brushes of pedophilia.
I am not condoning incest nor is any other Christian. It just happens that it is written in the Bible that it happened like a lot of other sins. That does not mean it is right.

Unfortunately there are things in the Bible is not defined, and some are not literal.

Wait a minute? So you're smart enough to know it's probably not a good idea to take everything the bible says literally, but somehow still manage to choose to abide by the most idiotic prohibition ever invented?

Re: Is it possible to have a relationship without sex?
I am not forcing my ideals onto any of you. I am just answering questions, to the best of my ability, that you are asking. I would appreciate it if you would act like I am a moron and I would love it if you would not shove your own beliefs down my throat. The whole point of this topic was to get your opinions on whether or not, in this day and age, if you can have a relationship without sex.
I realize that this topic would touch in the religious topic, but not to the point where everyone is trying to catch me in a contradiction or say I am not at all intelligent and I should basically just kill myself. So please, can we try and stay on topic.
If you really have a question I will try my hardest to answer it in a way that makes sense, but I am no theologian so keep that in mind.
