I went buying to 5 different shops and the all of the mattresses under $399 were very uncomfortable. They do this for a reason, they don't ever want to sell the $399 mattress, but they want you to think that all mattresses that are comfortable need to cost over $800. I like a mattress with medium firmness, not too hard, but not too soft, healthy and comfortable thats all I really need. Can anyone suggest me one?

I've been sleeping on the floor(on a 1.5" air mattress from Mountain Co-op) for a couple years now. They say it's better for you. I noticed my back felt better.

mattress on the floor is severely under rated

the original purpose of beds was to elevate you so rats and other vermin don't crawl over you in your sleep - we don't really have that need anymore so there's no real reason for a bed

also a big fan of air matresses

sadly though, both absence of a bed and an air mattress will be misinterpreted as you being a broke and classless donkey unless it's done in a proper decor it'll look like a crack house

just present it well and you'll be glad - it does take a few days to mentally adjust to being on the floor though

gotta love the lowrider on the floor, did that for a few years in college

also, if anyone has spent time living in countries where pests are still a very big thing, you'll notice nearly everything is on a raised platform, including the houses themselves - it's also flooding/dampness but main reason is so bugs don't crawl over you in your sleep, which sure as sh@t happen to anyone who camps outside under the stars, i've been woken up by a number of critters who crawl over me, hence why i now bring a hammock when i sleep that way in areas low on mosquitos but high on everything else
