Look, we agreed to sign up together and we thought that we would refer each other. But, we obviously weren't able to do that.

So, he decided that since he was first to sign up by 2 days, he has the right to ALL of the referral money! This is what pissed me off and what made me say that I don't owe him anything anymore since he was getting $150 from the referral.

After telling him about some suggestions in this thread, i.e. splitting the referral and thus only owing him $75, he didn't even give it a thought before flipping out and saying that he will no longer bet with me and that I am cut off.

He wants me to pay him the full $150 and then figure out this referral situation. I would do this if I thought he would give the situation 2 seconds of thought from my point of view. IMO, if I payed him the full amount he would say something along the lines of "because of the way you acted you are cut off and I will no longer bet with you and I'm not paying you $75 for the referral."

Mind you, I am basically training him at the gym 5 days a week now as a FAVOR and he still doesn't believe that he should split the referral with me.

I know I should still pay him but I am not going to feel good about it as he has completely disrespected me and our friendship in this little situation.

OP, I have a feeling you and your friend both struggle at life.

Two reasonable friends:
A) Hi I owe you 150, here you go.
B) Nah it's OK because we can chop the referral, you only owe me 75.
A) Great, friend, here you go.
B) Let's go, I'll buy you a beer
