I ran a 35 player tournament in Anthony's basement a couple Fridays ago.
We had six re-buys, so $4100 in the prize pool paying five. At ten the hand that I got ****ed on was A/10. We are playing five handed as the final table was eight (Anth's nice table seats 8). Under the gun I lead out 18,000 (blinds 3/6K). The small blind, who has me covered calls, and the big blind goes all in for 20K. I call, small blind calls. I only have 19K left. The flop is crap, turn is nothing, and river another brick. We had checked it down, and I was not expecting any action when on the river small blind min bets 6K. Really? Why? I figure he hit a pair on the river (why would you bet with a guy all in and only 2 to the final table though?) and after a little tanking, I fold. Dip **** shows K/Q for King high. Tard! All in shows A/10. I would have chopped and got over 30K. Instead, I sit with just over 3 BB's. ****ing idiot. Anywho, I make it to final 7, only 2 to money, and get A/Q of dimes. All in. Cigars @ Scotch calls with A/A. Hit a Q on flop, but nothing else.
When they got to 5, they chopped. But Fred from Brooklyn took 25% as he was monster stacked and other four chopped 75%. Tourney was a HUGE success, and Anth, Joe, and I already have talked about doing another one.
