OK, so after the great success of the OOT Oreo Faceoff, we are holding the second OOT Food Festival, a celebration of delicious pizza rolls.

Stickam worked well for people webcam streaming their eating exploits.

So, who's in? How many pizza rolls do you think you can eat in an hour? What varieties are you going to go with?

Current Safeway price is $1.99 for 15 pieces, $3.99 for 40 pieces, and $7.99 for 90 pieces.

Here is what appears to be the complete current lineup of flavors. The MEGA ones are 2x the size, so obviously not optimal for competition purposes. My Safeway had the bolded ones below.

I'm thinking maybe just get a 90-pack of pepperoni. Or maybe a mix of combo and pepperoni? Anyone know the difference between combo and supreme? I think I would do better if I could find more varieties.

Big LOL from this review: "A bag of 40 Totino's Pizza Rolls cost around $3. This is a great price because you can usually get several servings out of one bag."

OOT Food Festivals are traditionally held on Mondays. The 10th was too soon, the 17th was St. Patty's day, and a couple of folks didn't think they could properly prepare over Easter weekend for the 24th. So, March 31st it is.

This gives everyone a couple of weeks to practice and really be ready to put up a big number on go-day. I'd recommend doing your last big practice eat sometime between the 20th and 24th, then taking it easy until the 31st.

Let's not get carried away here. While I'm sure pretzel/pizza combos suck, and pizza rolls are obv a zillion times better than combos, these are pretty tasty:

Let's get the discussion back on track, though.

Does everyone pretty much agree that toaster oven is waaaaay better than microwave?

Also, does anyone else eat the corners off the pizza roll first to let the filling cool down before consumption?

Oven (and I imagine toaster oven as well) obv way better than microwave. Having said that, the less crispy microwaved ones might be easier to eat in quantity. I'm definitely going for delicious oven-baked pizza rolls, though.

I've done that before (corners), but usually just wait a little (not long enough) and bite in and burn the **** out of my mouth. It has been > 10 years since I last had pizza rolls, so I'm sure I'll make some rookie mistakes.

I LOVE this idea. My cousin and I have had the "if you could only have 1 food for the rest of your life discussion" and Pizza Rolls were in the top 3 for both of us.

Combination is definitely my flavor of choice.

And, definitely, don't do the mega rolls. Trying to eat them in one bite (like I believe Pizza Rolls are meant to be eaten) will sear your mouth. If you bite them in half, why do you need Mega Rolls in the first place? Just get regulars.

All,

For comparison purposes:

An Oreo weighs about 0.4oz and a pizza roll is about 0.5oz.
A Totino's Party Pizza is about the same weight as 20 pizza rolls.

I'm thinking 25-30 pizza rolls in an hour is about ithe max for me, but could see myself hitting a wall much earlier.

A pizza roll is a small cocoon, if you will, of pizza. It's a crispy pizza shell filled with cheese and topping. I think the name indicates a similarity to an egg roll, but it's considerably smaller than a standard egg roll.
