Re: OOT modern extreme metal thread

From the little I've browsed through this thread I haven't seen much black metal so thought I'd rectify that

The last Sargeist album is really amazing, for any fans of aggressive bm!

I'm also a big fan of DSBM and this band actually blew my mind. This can't really be considered "modern" metal but it's fairly recent so...

Yeah, in the early to mid 2000's I used to see him play with his trio in the city. Eventually I talked to him and started with the lessons. I had been playing for a long time but wanted to do the jazz thing, like him. He had gone to the new school in Manhattan and gotten a degree in jazz improv. I studied with him for a while but couldn't find enough time to practice so I stopped. I still have the cassette tapes I made of our lessons. Not long after that he rejoined Testament and I got to see them open for Priest and Sabbath on that metal masters tour. I'm pretty excited for this new album.

Re: OOT modern extreme metal thread

Anyone else find the lyrics to Cannibal Corpse so extreme that it just seems like a parody, and therefore unoffensive.

Their most recent album has this gem, Followed Home Then Killed

Quote:
Silently I enter through the broken basement window now to wait
It's twelve o'clock the time has come to ascend the staircase to the hunted
One
Make way to the second floor right outside your open bedroom door
One last time to sleep in peace unaware of brutal things that
Will be done
To you after you wake
Enter slow
Machete leads the way
Eerie calm
Death is in the air
Savage thrust
Death is everywhere

Adrenaline is pumping as my heart is pounding faster than yours slows down
Choke on blood and breath your last breath mangled
Guts I wear to celebrate
Stay inside and **** the corpse am innards orgy satisfies my needs
Finally I feel complete by eating brains and flesh

Re: OOT modern extreme metal thread

That's the point. Gore lyrics are pretty much always tongue-in-cheek.
