So me and friend were just talking bout Root Beer Floats and it got me thinking about my favorite all time Root Beer that just disappeared from my life years ago and I wish I could get my hands on some. IMO the best Root Beer ever is Hires. I did a search online and found out they still sell it and started to freak out cuz I thought it was no more. Found it on Amazon but its like $50 for shipping apparently. So tempted to buy a case though. Whats your favorite Root Beer? Anybody ever made there own?

Also if they sell Hires in your town shoot me a pm.

Out of the national brands, IBC is solid.

Birch beer tastes might fine as well.

Let an A and W sit out for 10-15 minutes before opening it. Changes the flavor completely; for the better imo.

never really been a fan of Birch Beer, maybe because all I've ever had was the store brand though

when i was a junior in highschool i was at some summer program at rose-hulman college and for one of our big parties we had a root beer kegger.

all of the college kids were talking about how these root beer kegs they were getting were the best rootbeer in the world. i am not big on rootbeer, but it was pretty delicious. the school was in indiana, but i think they went to illinois somewhere to get the kegs.

entertaining to see a v obese engineering kid doing rootbeer kegstands

Sprecher sells a root beer mix - whether that's the same as what they bottle, I dunno - for those who want to make their own. I haven't made my own soda, mostly because it has a way of tainting homebrew beer stuff, but a dedicated homebrew root beer/soda tap is definitely in my future.

Berghoff ainec. Pure cane sugar is the key. You can't buy it in the grocery store but I am fortunate to have a store close by called the Soda Pop shop. Any soda you could imagine is sold there. Everything you can remember from your childhood is available.

IBC > A&W > Barq's > MUG

IMO. They're all good though, you can't go wrong.

santa cruz makes a decent one as well. nothing like sprecher's imo, but it's decent. kind of different.

best rootbeer float ever is sprecher's/haagen dazs vanilla. any float fan should have that combo at least once.
