I chose Hires, but I can't find it here anymore, so I usually get Barq's. Never had IBC, probably just an American thing.

I'm in the minority that really doesn't like A&W.

both barq's and mug are pretty bad i can't believe anyone would say mug was their favorite. i think that's the worst and is barely root beer.
a&w is good. i think baumeister root beer is my favorite. i'm sure i've had IBC root beer but i don't know offhand what it's like, but i usually like the bottled ones. don't really know the other brands mentioned in the poll either.

Sioux City Sarsaparilla and root beer are awesome. IBC for off of that list.

Interesting point, I disagree though, because it tastes like root beer and is labeled as root beer.

It wasn't always called root beer, and it's formula is quite a bit different than the standard. Does any other rootbeer have caffeine?

barqs is the easily the worst of the national brands imo. somebody mentioned letting it sit out...this basically applies to anything you want to taste. I def recommend drinking beer at warmer temperatures than most people are used to (only good beer obv).

I don't know about the bottle, but Stewart's fresh from the soda fountain is freakin' delicious.

And yeah, Barq's sucks.

I actually didn't know this and maybe that's why I don't like it so much. Dr Pepper sucks. A lot. What flavor is it? I don't know, and neither do they. Go to their website they just list the flavor as "a blend of different spices"

Barq's fan here. Drank A&W back in the day and also Dad's root beer but grew out of those brands when I was like 12 I think. Am I the only one who remembers Dad's.

Do you guys know of anyone who thinks root beer is the most disgusting thing they've ever tasted. That's what my GF claims. Too sweet and it honestly makes her gag. Says it tastes like some medicine she had as a kid. She never had root beer as a kid and didn't try it for the first time until she was 16 or so. She has a similar reaction to Dr. Pepper. I think she's nuts.

I can understand if root beer just wasn't your thing or you weren't some super-fan or something. But I can't get how you could honestly say it is the worst taste you have ever experienced and, "OMG...how can anyone even touch this stuff?!?!" which is pretty much her reaction.

Wow lots of Barqs haters, I think its in the same class as MUG Root Beer and pretty bad too. Not too sure how I feel about A+W.

They made a mini-documentary about that soda store.

That place seems awesome. I love places that are clearly the result of somebody's passion. Economy Candy in NYC comes to mind.
