If she just based each meal around 30+ grams of protein like Renton suggests, she could avoid a lot of pitfalls too. Like when she went into IHOP, if she chose based on getting 30 grams of protein, waffles wouldn't be her choice. There's chicken cobb salads, steak and eggs, etc. If there's room for waffles after that, it's going to be a lot less.
She should be checking every meal in mfp before she takes a bite.
