maybe a lot of people do, which i dont understand completely. if you are willing to tell the world the **** job you used to work, and the ****ty college you went to, why would you feel the need to lie about other things.

This is a thread fail.

This question is like asking "Is it okay to lie in Walmart?" or "Is it okay to lie on the telephone?" The forum you lie in doesn't matter at all. What matters is who you're talking to and what you are talking about. If you are on chat roulette and someone asks how old you are you can lie to them because it really doesn't matter. If you are applying for a credit card online then it's definitely not okay to lie. The fact that all this takes place on the internet is irrelevant.

Governments and Churches have been lying to us for years so lying on the internet isn't that big of a deal.

It's not different than lying in person and, in America at least, we are a nation of liars. Whomever gets elected President is the most convincing liar. The only way to succeed with women or in business is to be a great liar.

So, in my personal opinion, it's not cool to lie - but everybody does it. So why should the internet be any different?

Most common time it is completely standard and evidently acceptable to lie on the internet: whenever somebody disagrees with you. Nobody ever concedes a point on anything ever. Both sides keep arguing as if the other hasn't said a single intelligent thing and they are absurdly, utterly, laughably wrong. Both sides are nearly always lying. They just want to win. Just like in real life.
